Why Reading Aloud to Middle School Students Works
Purdue Offering Many Opportunities for Teachers
Purdue is offering so many opportunities for teachers that we will be spotlighting a few in each edition in coming weeks. First up:
Spring 2020 PD at Purdue: The ‘T’ in STEM: Exploring Technology in the Classroom
Registration is open for a one-day Technology professional development that will be hosted on Purdue’s West Lafayette campus on Friday, February 21. This PD will focus on the integration of technology into the classroom. Participants will learn how to use Vernier probeware, iPads, Google extensions, and a variety of programs. This workshop will be appropriate with whatever technology you have in the classroom including iPads, Chromebooks, and Laptops. Bring a device and see ways of using technology to help students learn, collect data, e-journal, and more. The registration fee is $85 and includes parking pass, continental breakfast, and lunch for each participating teacher.
The deadline to register for The ‘T’ in STEM professional development at Purdue is Friday, February 14, 2020. Registration Link for February 21 PD

Has It Only Been a Week?
In some ways, Christmas/Winter break may already seem like a distant memory! Some educators have claimed that January, February, and March are prime times for learning. Why? Maybe it’s because by now, you know your students pretty well, and can jump right into learning after break. Maybe it’s because there are fewer distractions and interruptions. Or, maybe it’s something else. Here’s to a great second half of the school year for you. If you happened to miss last week’s Monday Minute, you can access it here.
Please send Susie Highley any ideas or suggestions of things to be included. We would love to feature more school activities! We are now sending the Monday Minute to members only, but we invite you to forward it to anyone who might be interested. You can also access it via this link on our webpage, and you can follow us on Facebook and Twitter.
