North Brookfield JR/SR High School
January 9, 2023
Dear Students, Parents, & Guardians,
As we enter 2023, I invite all households to please check schoolbrains (our student management system) to check your child’s academic status. It is also appropriate for you to reach out to teachers and my office if you have any academic, social or emotional concerns pertaining to your child. We are here to support you and our students. This week’s newsletter is framed around a visit from the Massachusetts Army National Guard, Student Recognition, Student Spotlights (2), announcements, and reminders.
Massachusetts Army National Guard ~ Mr. Garrett Kinnen, Athletic Director & PE Teacher
In the days leading up to the end of 2022, we hosted the Massachusetts Army National Guard and one of our students was named as the Project 351 Ambassador. Sergeant Bryan James Dutra collaborated with our Physical Education Department to present “Guard Fit Exercise Program”. Students enthusiastically accepted the challenge! Our P.E. Teacher, Mr. Kinnen explained: “Yesterday's Guard Fit Challenge was a huge success! The students all came into class very apprehensive and nervous and left not wanting class to end! I've shared a few photos with you below. I plan to have [National Guard] return in the spring as well. Also, [a big] shout out to Ms. Pellisier for participating as well!!”
Student Recognition ~ Whitney Reno
The Project 351 Organization reached out to thank North Brookfield JR/SR High school for selecting Whitney Reno as an ambassador to represent our community. I want to take this opportunity to thank Whitney and wish her congratulations for being named a Project 351 Ambassador. Well done!
Student Spotlight ~ by Ethan Hart
My name is Ethan Hart and I am a teaching assistant for North Brookfield Elementary School. I work with Mrs. “Mac” doing the food pantry. During A Block I go to the elementary school to pack bags for families in need. Occasionally,, as the stock gets low my Mom and I will go shopping at Hannafords to restock with donations from the generous people of North Brookfield. This is my first year as a teacher assistant and I have put my time into helping families in our great town.
Student Spotlight ~ by Zaclayia Ballard
I love cheerleading! It’s so fun to cheer for our basketball players!
The reason I joined cheerleading was because I wanted to try something new and meet people, and make friends. Ever since I joined, I’ve had the most fun ever! The cheers are so fun! My cheer buds are all fun to hang out with. And, my coaches are the best coaches ever! The coaches made us cute sweaters and bows. Cheerleading is one of the best things I have ever done! The coaches and cheerleaders are my family!
