In addition to wrestling skills, we will also be stressing sportsmanship and the proper conduct of an athlete. We would ask you to review our student handbook, under athletics, to become
familiar with our requirements for a student to participate in our athletic programs. We do expect our students and adults to be proper models of sportsmanship.

Mustang Tech Tips!
No-Drama Llama
Here's a few things to keep in mind when posting online or talking with others in person.
- Respect others' viewpoints: Respecting others' opinions can be difficult. It requires self-esteem, self-control , sensitivity, tolerance, fairness and generosity. But you also have to remember that your opinion is important too. Even if you don't agree, try to be respectful and recognize that anothers opinion is not unreasonable and it is possible that your own opinion could change if you we're given more information. Disagreeing can help everyone learn something different they didn't know before.
- Assume Positive intent: Because online communication allows others to say things they would never say in person, it is common to believe the things people say are negative. Because of this, it is easy to assume that what a person says in response to you is meant to be sarcastic or rude. Most times, that is not the case. Most people are generally good and kind. But they also try to be honest and helpful. If we take this into account and try to assume positive intent, it will help avoid drama in the future.
- Don't make it personal: If you get upset, it is common that you are upset at a concept or idea not the person. If you take that into consideration, it will help you be more respectful and understanding, even if you don't agree.
- Avoid putting others ideas or beliefs down: Understandably, if our ideas and beliefs are insulted, we get upset and take it personal(see above). So when disagreeing use respectful language, the temptation to yell, use sarcasm or use derogatory comments.
- Use "I" statements: Using "you" in a statement can sound accusatory or argumentative. Using I will help changes the tone and intent.
You Statement: "You always ask me take out the trash when you know
I have homework to do, can't I do it later?"
I Statement: "I have a lot of homework and am feeling stressed about
getting it done. Can I take out the trash after I'm done or tomorrow?"
In the examples above, both statements are similar, but have slight changes. The "I"
statement sounds more polite and respectful but gets the same message across.
- Be a good listener: Being a good listener is a great way to show respect. Although it is hard, it is best to not interrupt and just listen while another person is talking. Once the person has made their point, then you are free to voice your opinion or point of views.
- Be Kind: The best thing you can do in your social life (Digital and "RL") is to just be kind. staying calm and being kind is difficult, especially when its something you are passionate about and/or the person you are talking to gets heated. The best thing to do is be the mature one that navigates the direction of the conversation and ensure that all the steps mentioned earlier are done.
Dealing with drama is hard. But, being respectful, helpful, kind and considerate goes a long way and helps us all create a solid foundation where disagreements can be discussed. Be it online or in person, knowing how to deal with dramatic situations will make it a safer and easier for everyone to get along. So let's do our best to all become No Drama Llamas!
