CSD Superintendent's Message
Dr. Carrie Andrews, September 24, 2020
Dear Cambrian Families,
As you may know, Governor Newsom introduced a four-tier color system to help provide counties with guidance as to how best to reopen their economies.
Under the system, schools are allowed to begin the reopening process when the county where they are situated has been in the red category for 14 days and receives approvals from the California Department of Public Health. Currently, Santa Clara County has been in the red category for the necessary time to allow for the process of reopening of schools.
Having prepared for this moment, the Cambrian Elementary School District has made the decision to begin the process of reopening schools for in-person instruction. In order to safely begin the process, we will reopen schools with a phased-in approach to bringing students back on campus for targeted specialized services, supervision, and eventually grade levels in smaller sizes.
As we move toward reopening for in-person instruction, I want you to know that our reopening plan is intended to safely create some level of new normalcy for our students. We have reached that time where both state and local Public Health Department have deemed it safe for schools to open in Santa Clara County. If you do not feel ready to send your child to school, the district completely understands, and pending class space availability, you can contact the enrollment department to request that your child attend Cambrian’s Virtual School Program, which is 100 percent online.
I recognize that all of the announcements made regarding COVID-19 have created an environment of uncertainty and frustration. Let me assure you that you are not alone in those feelings, as my team and I feel the same way. However, it is important to remember that we are going through a worldwide pandemic that we never imagined would be here, nor that we would have thought could have occurred in our lifetime.
It is in moments of crisis that we must do everything possible to support one another. As fluid as the situation will continue to be for the foreseeable future, you have my commitment that our district will always be your partner in supporting your children. As more information becomes available, I will continue to vigilantly share it with you.
Stay safe,
CAMBRIAN SCHOOL DISTRICT
