Lá ‘le Pádraig sona dhuit!

...that's "Happy St. Patrick's Day" in Gaelic!

With the recent snow day, please note that there has been a change to the district calendar, which you can view HERE. School is now in session on Friday, May 26th. With the official start of Spring upon us (March 20th), we welcome warmer weather, some extra sunshine, and lots of exciting happenings in the Cardinal Nest, including our Spring Musical this week, Cardinal Jeopardy, the Book Fair, and of course, March Madness!

FYI: For those looking to expand their linguistic skills, Lá ‘le Pádraig sona dhuit is pronounced "lah leh PAH-drig SUN-uh gwitch."

slán [slawn]

Irish Gaelic term for "goodbye," the literal translation of which is "safe."

Did You Know...? (Shamrock Edition)

  • The leaves of four-leaf clovers are said to stand for faith, hope, love, and luck.
  • It's often said that Ireland is home to more four-leaf clovers than any other place, giving meaning to the phrase "the luck of the Irish."
  • Want to share your luck? It's been said that if you pass along your four-leaf clover, your luck will double.
  • The word shamrock comes from the Irish word seamrog, which means ‘little clover’.

Good Humor

Q: What do you get when you do the Irish jig at McDonalds?

A: A Shamrock Shake.

Q: What do you call an Irish person who sits outside all summer?
