The conflict that occurs in this book is character vs character. Jodee is bullied by most of the characters in this book end up bullying her throughout her time in school. Theme

The theme for this book is about bullying and how even if you think you are joking around with someone words hurt and you need to stand up for what you believe in. Also, no matter how bad somethings seems at the time eventually it will get better. Jodee was so afraid and tried to hide from her problem. Then after she got confidence she was able to stand up to the bullies and finally make it past the bullying. .

Textual Evidence

One of the most powerful parts of the book was the moment Jodee grabbed a knife wanting to cut Dara's heart out. When her mom stops her, Jodee cuts her own face. She uses the word murderous to describe her anger and it really shows her anger. Another powerful part is when Jodee changes in gym and the girls take her clothes and forces her to wear her gym clothes and show her body issue. the word she chose was disfigured.

the quote i found most powerful is: "You don't get to pick who you are in this life, but you can decide what you become."

Book Review

I would rate this book a 4 because it was a true story and it was so sad to see all the horrible things that happened to her and how she was treated. It was a book that I think everyone of us has had an issue where we were bullied or treated bad in one way or another. It showed how she was able to overcome all the bullying and horrible things to become a famous author and move past all the bad things.
