Full Steam Ahead in 105

February 22, 2017

In class...

Here are some things we have been working on:

MATH: we are beginning to work on regrouping in addition. Students are learning to find a group of 10 and "carry" it to the tens column. It is a slow process, but they are understanding the concept really well! Challenge them at home!

Reading/Writing: We are wrapping up our data cycle on parts of a story this week - be sure to ask your student questions about what they are reading each evening. Students are also practicing writing 5 strong sentences to provide information on a topic.

Science/Social Studies: We are prepping for our next big science unit, but have set it aside for a short time to focus on Presidents. We will continue to research this week and share knowledge about Abraham Lincoln and George Washington

Kindness Crusade

After our week long spirit days and practicing kind words, we decided to continue the momentum. Each day the following week we watched this video that we created with our buddy classroom. Afterwards, we discussed kind words to use with others and thoughtful deeds. We are in the process of creating a kindness bulletin board outside of our classroom to give others kind words to share with colleagues and classmates!

Buddy Reading Time!

Last Thursday our 1st graders teamed up with our 4th grade buddy classroom to take advantage of the spring-like weather and READ! What a beautiful day!
