ESSENTIALS WRITING
I am excited to move forward with Unit 5: Writing from Pictures. Students seem really excited about it and I am looking forward to hearing all the great stories that come with this assignment! It is a good break from what we have been doing for the last month. It is hard to believe we are almost to the end of this semester!

- Have your students add in all the dress-ups and decorations they remember than add something that is new like an advanced dress-up. EZ+1!
- Try to do the past tense in the topic sentence and clincher and past perfect tense in the details.
- Do a final draft and mark all the dress-ups and decorations.
- Add vocabulary words if you are using them.
- Mrs. Eaton's Class - Remember students may do an additional story from the Norman Rockwell painting for an additional 10 tickets!
Past Tense vs. Past Perfect Tense
Today, you would like to write about when you first began homeschooling. Your sentence would be in the past tense:
I began homeschooling Juan in the first grade. (began = past tense) (I am in the "present" speaking about a specific time in the past)
Now, say you want to write about before "the time you began homeschooling", your next sentence would be like this:
Before that, Juan had attended preschool. (had attended = past perfect tense)
Hope this helps!
WEEK 12 - CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION
Please begin practicing the 112 sentence song with the hand motions for our performance during the celebration. I have attached it again so you can practice :-)
Have a great Thanksgiving!
