Principal's Post
We made it! We successfully completed a pandemic school year filled with both remote and in-person learning adventures. Thank you for being a partner in this process - your patience, understanding, and support were much appreciated. We look forward to continuing to partner with you in the future and hope to see more of each other in the 21-22 school year!
As the summer progresses, I will send periodic updates to our families via the Monroe Memo. As always, please reach out via email if you have any questions.
We hope the summer months bring your family the much needed rest and relaxation that you all deserve - you've earned it!
Your partner in education,
Kristin Reingruber

Summer Resources
Students who have Dreambox accounts will continue to have access throughout the summer. Families of students with accounts will receive an email with a reminder of their child's login information.
Students who receive reading intervention received a summer backpack. These activities are optional but are a great way to continue building skills over the summer.
The D181 Elementary Reading Specialists have developed “Summer Reading” lists by grade level for kindergarten-fifth grades with their recommendations for books, authors, series, and links to sites to assist students and families in the selection of reading materials. The grade level lists are meant as a guide, so children can pick and choose some books that the D181 Reading Specialists recommended and are free to select books of their choice as well.
Ongoing math practice increases a student’s ability to retain concepts, enhances their performance, and prepares them for the next grade level. A summer math packet is available to all students entering grades 4-8 in an effort to establish a strong mathematical foundation upon which higher-level math principles are built. Elementary math packets are optional whereas middle school packets are required and collected during the first week of school by all math teachers. All work should be shown for each problem. The math packets are protected under copyright law and we have purchased the rights for our students. Due to this, the packets will not be posted on public domains. The packets will be available in Skyward for families all summer. They were also sent in a previous weekly District email.
For those seeking a tutor for their child, D181 tutors may only support students for whom there is no reasonable expectation they will instruct in the future. Further, educators should not tutor a student he/she has taught in the past. Please refer to the TUTOR LIST if you are looking for a tutor - please do not select a MONROE staff member OR a staff member from the middle school that your child would attend.

2021-2022 Registration
Please complete your 2021-2022 registration as soon as possible. All current students (those entering kindergarten through 8th grade for the 2021-22 school year) need to complete the District registration and fee payment process to enroll.

- Log In: Click here to log in to Skyward Family Access Portal. Only the primary guardian will have access to D181 online registration.
- Registration Steps: For step-by-step instructions, click here: Registration Steps
- SchoolPay Fees: All D181 schools use SchoolPay for processing fees. For instructions on how to use SchoolPay, please click here.
- PTO Registration: Are you registered with your school’s PTO? After registration and fee payment is complete, you can complete PTO tasks including ordering supply kits, registering for the PTO directory, and signing up to volunteer. - Final Submission - REQUIRED: Once you have completed PTO information, return to Skyward Family Access and complete the final submission on your registration application.
Please note that the registration process is not complete until you return to Skyward and click the “Submit D181 2020-21 Online Registration” button.
Notice: Fee payments are expected at the time of registration. If you have unpaid fees from the 2020-21 school year, these will need to be paid in full along with the 2021-22 fees.
Free School Lunches: Your child may be entitled to free school lunches. According to the Illinois School Code, every public school must have a free lunch program that provides free lunches (and breakfasts if a school offers breakfast) to students eligible to receive free meals. The application for the free lunch program is available in Skyward Family Access. Click here for directions on how to apply to determine if you qualify.
