Unlicensed "doctors" or other distributors may not be who they say they are, and are just trying to sell you something you don't need or even want for their own profits. They may alter dates and healthcare records, demanding you pay them in advance or have missed a payment you did not need to make.
Don't be fooled by the pretty titles promising quality healthcare.
Unfortunately, scams are a really big deal now a days, and most of them are very tempting. Advertisements flashing affordable healthcare, promising to cover you completely in any situation for little done sounds too good to be true, and probably is. Staying safe and not clicking on these links is necessary. Give no information to unknown titles and promises that are obviously bigger talk than action. Scams like these may rob you of money or even identification.
How important should this be to you?
As a teenager, it is easier to be manipulated and persuaded to accept things that may have a negative impact on our lives. It is your job to report any frauds you learn of to appropriate resources or legal authorities, because other teenagers may fall for a scam that may destroy their privacy and bank accounts. The Federal Bureau of Investigation, the U.S. Postal Service, and the Office of the Inspector General all are charged with the responsibility of investigating healthcare fraud.
Another person's life may depend on your actions, and reporting a fraud or scam immediately is necessary to keeping others in your community and even around the world safe and secure.
