South Bay Pumpkin Smash
Participate at this Medieval Renaissance themed event! Build with your friends and one adult mentor a catapult, trebuchet, or similar medieval device for the exciting reason to throw a perfectly good (maybe a little over ripe) pumpkin on Saturday, November 12th at the Salt Creek Golf Club Diving Range. This event is for 3rd-12th grade students.

Inaugural Sweetwater Solar Sprint
On November 19, 2016 our middle schools will demonstrate how to harness the power of the sun in a solar-powered car race. The event will take place at Montgomery Middle School.

Science and Engineering Apprenticeship Program (SEAP)
Sponsored by the Office of Naval Research Science & Technology
Get ready to participate in SEAP next summer!
SEAP is an eight week summer internship for high school students 16 years or older. Students will gain real-world, hands-on experience and research skills at SPAWAR (Space and Naval Warfare Systems).

Teams composed of 5-8 students from the same school battle each other to protect and attack cyber targets.
START A TEAM AT YOUR SCHOOL!
Today, cyber security is the fastest growing job sector. This competition creates interest and awareness among participating schools and students while encouraging them to consider information assurance and computer security as possible career paths or courses of study in a higher education.

Do you have an idea? Take it to the Sweetwater Science and Engineering Fair. There are 16 different categories to participate, including Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, and Chemistry.
What are you waiting for? You could have the solution to a world problem! It takes only three steps; get a teacher adviser, work on your awesome idea, and present your project at the fair.
Sweetwater Science and Engineering Fair (SSEF) will take place on February 7, 2017 at Otay Ranch High School. More details HERE.
