Valentine's Day!
We will be passing out Valentines in our own classrooms; however, will be doing some really FUN STEAM activities as a grade level! We are still working out the details. Some kids have asked if they can bring a treat for the class - absolutely!

Virtues
Kindness is showing you care, doing some good to make life better for others. Be thoughtful about people's needs. Show love and compassion to someone who is sad or needs your help. When you are tempted to be cruel, to criticize or tease, decide to be kind instead.
Here are some questions to discuss with your child regarding kindness:
What do most people do when they see someone with a disability or who looks different?
How does it feel to be ignored, teased, etc.?
What would be a kind way to treat someone who is disabled?
Name three ways we can be kind to animals.
Think of someone who needs your kindness today. What can you do to be kind?
What would you say or do if someone is not being kind to you?
How have you shown kindness to people or animals?
Thanks for your support!

Dear Family Member:
This week our class will be focusing on weather. We will be discussing how weather affects us.
Here are some activities that you can do with your child to help reinforce the skills we’ll be practicing.
Word Workout
- Words to Know: figurative language You will work with your child to use the words in sentences about the weather.
Comprehension: theme
Help your child fill in a theme map about a story, either real or made up, about the weather.
Social Studies & Science
This week, we solved the Mystery, “How can you protect a house from blowing away in a windstorm?” Students invented creative ways to protect their paper houses from the wind.
You can encourage your child to make personal connections at home! Discuss any wind-related hazards that may happen near where you live: Are there any tornadoes, hurricanes, or dust storms? How do people prepare for them?
