Dear Englewood eLearning Families,
I trust the first week back from break was an excellent one! We only have two more weeks left in the semester, and we have much to accomplish before then. As we approach the end of the year, I want you to be aware of some important updates we have been working on with regard to the second semester experience for all Englewood eLearning students.
As you know, the beginning of this semester was very challenging. We were tasked with starting a brand new approach to teaching and learning that Englewood Schools has never established before. Moreover, we were tasked with doing this in a short amount of time. Everyone involved (teachers, staff, students, families) rose to the challenge and persevered through the ups and downs, for which I am profoundly grateful. With that said, it would be negligent if we didn’t take time to reflect upon this experience and carefully examine what worked and what didn’t. And as our understanding of this experience grows, so does the necessity to evolve it.
On Monday, we will be sharing the beginning steps of those changes with you. The first adjustment will be with regard to Edgenuity, and how we will be expanding upon opportunities for students to complete courses. The second adjustment will come in the form of a comprehensive feedback form for students and families to share their thoughts on the eLearning experience. This information, of course, will be a critical component to shaping the evolution of Englewood eLearning. Combined with the feedback we have gathered from staff over the semester, we are planning to make reasonable adjustments to improve the experience.
With that said, please check your email on Monday, December 7th in the afternoon. We will be sharing important updates with regard to Edgenuity. Additionally, we will be sharing feedback forms for our families. The feedback you provide will be critical in the evolution of our school. Additionally, we will be sharing important beginning-of-semester information on Monday, December 14th. In short, be checking your email often… we have much to share with you.
For now, I hope you have a wonderful weekend. Thank you for everything you do for our kids!
Paul Whitaker

SENIOR PICTURES!!
We are really under the deadline to get senior photos in for the yearbook. I know this is a tough year and many of you have been unable to schedule photos due to Covid restrictions.
INFORMATION CAN BE FOUND HERE: https://thepirateer.com/senior-yb-info/
We do have a professional photographer that comes to the campus in February to take official Senior photos for the yearbook. THESE ARE FREE TO YOU. I do, however, need to know if you need this option. The YEARBOOK staff does fundraisers to raise money for this option and we really want you to have a nice Senior picture in the book.
Please let me know your wishes by the end of this week so I can reserve the spot for you in the yearbook and with our photographer in February.
***SIDE NOTE-Please do not schedule with a professional photographer in February or March. You will miss the publishing deadline for the yearbook. Our local photog turns pictures around in 2 days to meet the publishing deadline. This is nearly impossible with an outside company.

Edgenuity grades update:
Dear Parents and Guardians,
This week, you should have noticed that your student(s) now have a grade for their Edgenuity classes entered into Infinite Campus. This grade will be considered an “In Progress” grade, as the semester is not yet over.
The grade that will be entered will be the "Actual" grade from the Edgenuity graded report. This is important for you to know because the "Actual" grade will be the grade that is posted in Infinite Campus at the end of the semester, NOT the Overall grade. For more clarification on Edgenuity grading, please click here.
The Edgenuity Progress Report has been changed to reflect the "Actual" grade over the "Overall" Grade to start making this transition.
Please reach out to the eLearning admin team if you have any questions.
Student Check In
Each student is now responsible for indicating your own attendance. It is incredibly important you do this EVERY DAY you participate in your Edgenuity course work. All you need to do is follow three simple steps!
Step 1: Login to your Infinite Campus portal
Step 2: Locate the box that says "Check Ins" and click it
Step 3: Click "Yes, I'm Here"
***Only check in if you have participated in Edgenuity for the day, if you DON'T login to Edgenuity you will be marked ABSENT.
Final Stretch for Edgenuity Classes
We are now entering the final stretch of time before classes end for the semester. It is critical that students continue to log in and complete their coursework to the best of their abilities. If you find that your student is behind, please reach out to one of your student's teachers to get support with regard to completing coursework on time. We are ready to set up schedules with you and your child as a way to find success to finish on time with good grades. We can help breakdown the amount of time that needs to be spent on classes to determine that schedule. Or, we can examine the number of assignments remaining to establish a plan for completing those assignments. We want to help your child successfully complete this semester, but we can't do this alone. We need to work with your student and you to create a wraparound support
Please know that your child can work on Edgenuity at any time of the day, on any day of the week. Edgenuity access does not follow our school calendar.
We are quickly approaching a point whereas if your student has not been engaging in his/her learning with Edgenuity, he/she is at risk for not passing the course. For our students in grades 9-12, this could have significant impacts on their track to graduation, and it could result in the student needing to enroll in a credit recovery course.
For students that are slightly to moderately behind in their progress, please encourage them to reach out to their teachers for solutions and supports to get caught up. Please know this also applies to students that are significantly behind. However, that conversation will be more focused and will require students to commit a larger amount of time to ensure course completion on time. Regardless of where your student is at, if they are behind and/or stressed about their progress, please encourage them to set up time with one of their teachers to discuss a success plan to complete the course.
Please reach out if you have any questions. Thank you for your support!
