Mr. Corso's Weekly Update
April 5, 2020
Distance Learning Begins April 6 - April 10
Mr. Corso's Principal's Message
Positive Raiders: Responsible, Respectful, Hard Working and Kind
As we transition to our Distance Learning Plan, I wanted to send a special message to our students. In this video, I let students know we are moving away from optional learning and toward our Distance Learning Plan https://youtu.be/pAmaqR7X9Iw . Please have them watch it before Monday. We also wanted to provide you with some tips to help our transition…
Tip #1: Log in through MyPlan. This is your one stop shop for all of your Distance Learning Tools. Because teachers make settings only Poway users can view, this ensures that you can access. Have trouble signing in to My Plan, please contact: IT Help Desk
Tip #2: First Stop=MyConnect. On Mondays by 10 am, teachers will post content to the calendar for the week. Please look over the content and get your game plan for the week.
Tip #3: Check Office Hours Schedule Teachers will be doing 2 scheduled office hours per week. Refer to that schedule to pop in and ask questions. If you can’t make it at that time, you can email, schedule an appointment, or post to the class discussion board at any time!
Tip #4: Prepare Questions Ahead of Time To better use office hour visits, make sure you prepare questions before joining.
Tip #5: Mindful Moments Allow yourselves moments away from screen time! Take a moment to breathe, collect yourself, get outside, etc. Make sure to schedule in break time! You can even still practice the mindful moments each day! To help, we will be providing Mindful Moments for each school day. Here is a link of Mr. Corso modeling a Mindful Minute with his boys: LINK

Before activities start on Monday, IT IS VERY IMPORTANT that ALL STUDENTS review this short presentation on Digital Citizenship LINK. Our ONLINE activities must be Respectful, Responsible, Working Hard and Kind.
In order to support our students and families, PUSD generated this “FAQs for Families” Family FAQs and a Distance Learning Infographic document to assist everyone in the transition to Distance Learning. We know there will be many more questions, and we intend to keep you informed along the way.
Our BMMS schedule moving forward is a balance between Suggested Student Times and Teacher Office Hours. Teachers will provide 2 lessons for the week. Those lessons will be posted by 10am Monday morning. Students should check their MyConnect at 10am each Monday to plan their week. We have created a quick FAQ for MyConnect to help families understand the difference between My Plan and My Connect. Study times below in yellow are suggested. Students and families can make their own schedule in order to be flexible for family needs, but the lessons should be completed by the end of the week. Office Hours: These are teacher defined time frames where teachers will be available for additional support for students. Your classroom teacher will provide more information on their MyConnect. It is important that all students work to complete all assigned tasks. At this time student work will not be given a grade. We are expecting more guidance from the state in this regard. However, teachers will be providing feedback.
It was so great seeing students and families picking up Chromebooks. We appreciate everyone's support and grace.
All my best to you,
Scott Corso

REMINDER! Food Services During School Closure Information
REMINDER!Food Services During School Closures: PUSD will consolidate meal service. From 11am to 1pm Monday through Friday, we will now be offering lunch and breakfast together. We hope that this will be more convenient for our families, allowing students to have one pick up time that includes both lunch and breakfast for the following day. This decision was based on feedback from our families as well as the data collected from the actual number of meals distributed this week. These meals are free for anyone 18 years or younger in our community or for any PUSD Transition student 22 years or younger, but we ask that students needing meals be physically present for an accurate count. The meals will be available at the following 12 centralized school sites; please drive up or walk up to the site nearest you:

Student Registration for Next Year
PUSD 2020-2021 Continuing Student Registration is here! The online Continuing Student Registration website will be open April 1 - April 30, 2020. Parents and Guardians will receive email notification once the website is open. We must receive a completed digital packet for all returning students. This will allow for proper placement of your student for the 2020-2021 school year. This annual digital process will allow a family to complete one single “family” packet instead of completing one packet per student.
DIRECTIONS FOR IMMUNIZATION UPLOADS: Please scan or attach and email to our Health Technician, LaurieAnn McCarthy at lmccarthy@powayusd.com.
Packets can be completed using any computer, tablet or smartphone with an internet connection. If you do not have access to any computing device or internet connection, your student’s school will provide access to complete the packet. In preparation of this process, now is the time to confirm that you know your parent login username and password. This information will be needed to complete the registration packet. Please take a moment and ensure you can login to https://sis.powayusd.com If you do not know your username and/or password, you can visit https://password.powayusd.com to retrieve your login credentials.
Please notify your current school as soon as possible if you do not plan to return to PUSD for the 2020-2021 school year.
Thank you for your attention to this important process.
