Exercises all runners must try
want to get running? Try these exercises first
Running is a good exercise but not enough if you are preparing for a marathon or any kind of race. Apart from running it is important you also perform a couple of other exercises to strengthen your legs, core, thighs etc. Performing other exercises will not only make you stronger but also improve your running speed and distance. Wondering what these exercises are? Here are a couple I found helpful.
Bridge
Get down on your back with your arms stretched by your side. Now with your knees bent all you need to do is raise your hips by pushing your feet towards the floor. This move is great for your core, glutes and also your hamstring.
Stay in that position for about 4-5 seconds and then get back on the floor. You must do at least 10-15 reps and 2 sets. Here is how you do a bridge
Plank
Begin like you would for a push up but instead keep your elbows in contact with the floor. Now slowly move downwards so that your body is straight. Hold the pose for about a minute and continue the exercise for about a minute or 2.
Now that your exercise schedule is fixed the next thing on the list is your gear. Crazyfeet offers awesome reviews for all kinds of different shoes. Want to learn to plank?
