Hello Skyhawk Families!

When I looked at the date this morning, I was shocked to realize that January is over. This month always goes quickly, but this year was especially fast. We officially hit the 50% mark on our school year today and much like the gas tank in my car, the second half always seems to go quicker than the first half, so here we go!

Contributing to this phenomenon is the amount of activities happening in our building during this time of year. Our boys’ basketball teams are competing in games twice a week and will wrap up their season mid- month. Don’t worry, basketball fans! Our girls’ season will start with tryouts on February 8, 11 and 12. Our knowledge bowl teams competes throughout the month of February. And our Mock Trial team was at the courthouse in Vancouver on January 30 and 31 for their competition. To top it all off, our musical auditions recently concluded for the Lion King and the cast was announced. Mark your calendars for April 26 and 27 to catch this great show!

The month of February also means new things for our current 8th graders as they prepare to leave middle school and begin their high school journeys. With three high schools in the Camas School District, our students have a variety of options available to them and we will do our best in the next month to share these options with them and you. On February 22, we will take all of our 8th grade students on a tour of all three campuses. This will give them a chance to see each school and help them make the choice that best fits their needs. This will be followed by a parent night where you can ask questions of the principals of those schools, as well. This is just the beginning. Watch our website and check our school Facebook and Instagram accounts for other upcoming meeting dates for future 9th graders as they come available.

Finally, I want to close by sharing a link with you. With all of the talk about measles in Clark County, our district has added a frequently asked questions page to our website. Click here for more information. Right now, we do not have a confirmed case of the measles within the Camas School District, but there is still good information on this site.

Go Skyhawks!
