Pete Perez Named Interim Superintendent

Our Board of Directors held a special meeting on Friday, 4/2. They unanimously approved a motion to designate Pete Perez as interim superintendent. Mr. Perez and the district will negotiate an interim contract, which the board expects to discuss and hold a vote on during their April 12 meeting.

Perez is currently OSD's Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning. He is a lifelong Othello resident and has served the district since 1996.

Help Keep Our Schools Safe After Spring Break

We hope you are having a fun and safe spring break! Keeping our schools free from COVID depends on everyone doing their part so we can stay open.

If you are traveling over spring break, we ask that you voluntarily follow current Washington State and CDC recommendations:

If you are fully vaccinated:

  • Wear a mask over your mouth and nose.

  • Avoid crowds and stay at least 6 feet away from anyone who is not traveling with you.

  • Wash your hands often or use hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.

  • When you return: Self-monitor for COVID symptoms. Isolate and get tested if you develop symptoms.

If you are NOT fully vaccinated:

  • Wear a mask over your mouth and nose.

  • Avoid crowds and stay at least 6 feet away from anyone who is not traveling with you.

  • Wash your hands often or use hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.

  • After you travel: Get tested 3-5 days after travel.

  • Self-monitor for COVID symptoms. Isolate and self-quarantine if you develop symptoms.

We will rely on your good-judgement in following these recommendations. Our schools have operated safely, with no evidence of COVID transmission since we re-opened for blended learning in January. Thank you all for helping to keep our schools and community safe!

No Spring Break Meal Service

Our food services staff has been on the front lines of our post-pandemic shutdown work for over a year now. This week, they will take a much-deserved break along with everyone else. We will not offer meal service April 5-9. Our meal service will resume after Spring Break.

Middle and High School Student ID Required to Board Buses

Middle and high school students will need to have their student ID card available to show school bus drivers on request. This will help prevent unauthorized passengers from boarding school buses.
