HOW TO DO PARTIAL QUOTIENT
How to do Partial Quotient
- Let's say our problem is 95 divided by 4.
- First you pick a multiplication problem that is comfortable for you. Let's do 4 x 10 which equals 40. SAVE WHAT YOU MULTIPLY FOR LATER.
- Now you would subtract 95-40 which equals 55.
- You can do 4 x 10 again which equals 40
- Now you would subtract 55-40 which equals 15.
- Now you can do one more group of four and you would do 4 x 3 which equals 12.
- Now you do 15-12 which is 3. You can't get another group of 4 so 3 is your remainder.
- Now you can add what you multiplied which is 10,10, and 3. If you add those together that makes 23. Now 23 remainder 3 is your Quotient or answer.
