Our students and staff enjoyed dressing up and attending the Monster Mash on Friday- in partnership with our SGA. This party serves as a fundraiser for our schoolwide philanthropy, The Miracle League. If you would like to learn more about Miracle League, check out their website here. Our students have the opportunity to participate by partnering with a team and/or cheering athletes on at the games that take place in Vestavia Hills at Wald Park. We are excited about service opportunities that allow our students to engage in authentic ways in our community alongside their peers.

Our Pizitz PTO Fall Fundraiser- Partner with Pizitz- will begin this Friday, November 4 and end on November 11! This year, we are focused on raising funds to purchase furniture options for our school that will promote student engagement and collaboration in our classrooms. Our goal is to raise $25,000 and we need your help to reach it! More information about how to donate will be coming this week. We are grateful for your support and are also excited about a fun homeroom competition!

The 8th Grade Panoramic Picture will be taken Tuesday, November 1 in the lower gym during 8th period. Please make your plans to be at school for this picture. You will be able to order your own copy of the panoramic picture. More information will be provided on November 1.

Pizitz Competition Cheer is pre-selling Thanksgiving Turkeys and Boston Butts from Firehouse BBQ! Orders are due November 15 and will be available for pick up on November 22 at Pizitz. Turkeys are $60 each and Boston Butts are $45 each. Bring cash or check to Mrs. Logsdon's room (E205) or order through one of the competition cheerleaders. Thank you for supporting our team!! The SGA will be sponsoring a canned food drive Wednesday, November 2 through Thursday, November 17 benefitting Bread of Life Food Pantry (the ministry of Mr. Daniel Cason, the accompanist for the choirs). Please bring in canned goods that you would like to donate to your homeroom teacher. NO GLASS will be accepted. Please think of things that YOU would like to eat when making your donation. The homeroom in each grade which brings in the most canned goods will receive a donut party.

PTO has provided a great opporutnity to shop and order for items to arrive before the holidays. If you are interested, check out the shop, they have great items for all of our schools- including Pizitz. Part of the proceeds come back to Pizitz when you select our school at purchase. Indoor Track & Field will have a make-up parent meeting on Monday, November 7 at 4:30p.m. in the Library/Media Center for those who could not attend the Winter Athletics Parent meetings in October.

Creative Writing Workshop (CWW) is a class taught by Mr. Brock during 8th period. It is designed for students who have an interest in writing, and enjoy writing but may not have a whole lot of time to write.

• We will cover writing techniques,

• We will write in-class

• We will occasionally watch a movie or parts of a movie to further understand some technique of writing fiction.

• Because this is a workshop class, we will also read our work aloud in class and discuss each other's work.

You will be expected to write in class, but typically not much outside of class. We will have 1-2 homework days per week. We will also work in conjunction with Mrs. Wiggins's Digital Media class. Have you ordered a yearbook? Time is running out to pre-order. The deadline is Monday, November 14. Please don't count on buying an extra in May. Only a small number of extras arrive with our order. Email Mrs. Wade with any questions!

Reminder to Students: Turn in your reading logs to earn a family pass to a Birmingham-Southern Men's home basketball game. They are due tomorrow, Tuesday, November 1 to Mrs. Smith in the library.

Hike the Hill was established by the Vestavia Hills Rotary Club as a family fun event promoting health and wellness to support Vestavia Hills Community Schools. The “hill” symbolizes a student’s climb from elementary school that finishes on the “hill” at VHHS and recognize the climb of life-long learning that connects all of us. Everyone is encouraged to wear their t-shirt and hike one of the four routes found at www.vestaviarotary.org during November 1-15 (during the heart of Veteran's Day Celebrations) and join the community hike on Sunday, November 13 at 2:00 p.m. (beginning at the bridge across from Andy’s Nursery).

First Priority is a student-led club at Pizitz. This is a Christian organization that meets before school. Come join us as we gather every Thursday morning at 7:25 AM in the choir room! Everyone is welcome! Contact Mr. Sutter or Mrs. Windle if you have questions.
