Mother Daughter Relationship
To me their relationship in the story wasn't very good. The relationship was missing communication between the two Ni-Kan didn't want to do what the mother was pushing towards and when she does fail at the piano she fells as if she failed her mothers expectations which isn't good they should of talked something out that would of fit both of their needs like something Ni-Kan wanted to be.
Mothers Early Life
While living in China there wasn't much opportunity for Ni-Kans mother to become what she wanted to be so moving to America which she called the land of opportunity she wanted to give her daughter what she never had to chance to do and she wants Ni-Kan to prosper in life
