Thurgood Marshall Early College HS
Building College-Ready Buffs
Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year!
Dear Early College Parents and Families,
Tomorrow, your children will walk through the doors as the first class of Thurgood Marshall Early College High School! They have the unique and exciting opportunity to be a part of our new school and build a legacy of achievement and service. This school year promises to be full of many new experiences for our Early College Buffs--applying to college as freshmen, participating in TSI Assessment, embracing the AVID/college-readiness support class, and holding strong in an all Pre AP core course class schedule! Yes, these are great tasks, but the Thurgood Marshall Early College staff is committed to walking with your children every step of the way. We will navigate through these experiences, through this newness together. We are a family, and as a family we conquer challenges and celebrate successes together.
Our teaching staff has prepared finely tuned lessons to engage, equip, and empower our students in their college-going pathways. Tomorrow and through the week, teachers will share with students materials and supplies needed for the year. Expect students to bring home a syllabus from each of their teachers which outlines class expectations, requirements, and grading policies. In the coming weeks, our teachers will publish their tutorial schedules and we expect all students to take full advantage of the additional time offered to grasp content and work with teachers on mastering objectives.
At Thurgood Marshall Early College High School, we are building college-ready Buffs. The journey to college readiness for each of our students will be unique and exciting, but it will require dedication, flexibility, and time management. As we guide our Buffs through the journey, we ask each of our parents and families to partner with us. If you have any questions or concerns, never hesitate to make contact. Following in the newsletter you will learn more of our communication platforms and how to sign up for our Remind group. Thank you for entrusting us with your children and allowing us to serve them.

Mrs. Monica Baines
