From: Mrs. Rodriguez, Executive Director/Head of School

Dear SABE Family,

Hello! We have missed you!!!

Welcome to our new kindergarten students and our new and returning first-eight grade students! It is with great honor and much enthusiasm that I write this letter entering my seventh year at Sandoval Academy of Bilingual Education. This year, I will serve as the Executive Director/Head of School.

I am excited about some changes and all that we have been doing this summer to continue to serve our SABE community and make SABE the best dual language school in Rio Rancho! I want to thank Mrs. Reyes for taking on the role of our school principal. Her continued contributions to SABE are great and I know that by having her serve in this role, we will continue to soar to greatness! I want to clarify what this role change means and how it relates to my role as the Executive Director/Head of School. I am still involved in everything at SABE and I will be just as present and involved. Mrs. Reyes will be taking on some other leadership responsibilities in her role. She will also continue as our Special Services Director.

I am looking forward to meeting new faces, revisiting familiar ones, as well as hearing about your summer adventures! For those of you who have not met me, I am entering my twenty-sixth year in education. I have served in many roles during my 25-year career in education from classroom teacher, literacy specialist, and for the last eight years, I have been honored to work in the realm as a charter school leader. I am very excited to meet you all and continue working to make this a fabulous school year!

We are excited to report that we have a total of 255 students and hope to meet our goal for this year!

As I am excited to send you this letter, it is the face-to-face interaction that I value most. Please know that we have an open-door policy and welcome the opportunity to meet with you, me, and the teachers alike.

Teachers have already been coming this summer to prepare their classrooms and prepare for their students and we all look forward to seeing you at the SABE Social/Meet the Teacher Social event on Wednesday, from 5:30-7:30pm.

We are excited and looking forward to our collaboration in providing a safe and nurturing environment and a challenging and diverse curriculum for your children. We are very much looking forward to watching the scholars stream out of the cars and to having our school filled with the hustle and bustle that has been absent all summer. Old friendships will quickly be rekindled and new friendships will be made. Students will swap stories about their summers and show off their new backpacks.

Adelante SABE family!

Scholar & School Safety

We know your child's safety is very important to you. It is to us as well. Here are some ways we ensure safety.

All doors at SABE are secured and there is only one point of entry. All visitors are required to sign in at the front office and we use a system that scans drivers' licenses. Unauthorized persons are not allowed in our building. We follow all state-required safety plans and have a School Safety Plan. All SABE staff are trained in how to respond in emergency situations and follow protocols as aligned with our state-approved plan. Additionally, all staff are trained in both health and safety as it relates

REMINDERS

Supply List - Where can I find one?

Here at SABE parents/guardians pay a $75 supply fee. This fee covers all materials that students will need throughout the school year and a SABE Spirit Shirt. The supply fee will be paid through MealTime. This is an online payment system that our school uses. More information will be sent out very soon how to login to that system.

How can I contact my child's teachers?

SABE uses ClassDojo to keep families informed. ClassDojo is an app that can be downloaded to your phone, iPad or computer. We use ClassDojo for several different purposes. Families are encouraged to check ClassDojo regularly for school and classroom news.
  • Students are able to earn points for class/teacher rewards or Principal Awards.
  • Teachers are able to monitor and give students points, communicate with all parents through a class story, or send/receive private messages.
  • Important school-wide events and dates are posted on School Story along with other important announcements.
  • Parent and Class Newsletters are shared through ClassDojo.

Use the link below to use ClassDojo on your computer.

We also use SchoolMessenger for communicating messages including emergency messaging via email, telephone, and text. You will be receiving a text message on Friday, August 11th to opt into this service. If you want to receive these messages, please make sure you opt-in. If you do not receive a message to opt in, please contact our school registrar Mrs. Almanza via telephone and she can make sure we add you to the list. See the information below:

PTA

SABE PTA is excited to welcome you to the new school year!

We are busy planning some great events for this year.

With all your support last year, we were able to raise over $11,000 to support our teachers, families, and most importantly our students.

  • We were able to help with transportation costs for field trips, provide grants for teachers to purchase supplies, and show the staff and teachers how much they are appreciated.
  • For our families, we had a tech night with internet safety information, a Healthy Minds presentation, and the uniform bank.
  • Our students enjoyed events like Fall Fantasy, Read-a-Thon, and Festival de Colores along with monthly treats and books for all students.

As we get ready for the upcoming year. You can help by joining the PTA (https://sabe.memberhub.com/), volunteering at an event, supporting our initiatives like Box Tops, Dress Down Mondays, Smith’s Community Rewards, and much more!

Please join us for the first PTA on August 8 via zoom. We look forward to another great year!
