Fall 1 2021
A Message from Principal Callaghan
Dear WHS School Community,
On behalf of the entire staff and administration at WHS, we are so excited for the start of this school year; a year we expect to be more like the ones we’re used to: staff and students focusing their efforts more on learning, growing, and developing all students, as well as teaching curricula that is rich with purpose and relevance to the world around us, and a year with opportunities for all students to be part of school activities in meaningful ways.
Welcome to all new and returning students to 2021-2022 school year.
This year we will work daily to create and develop connections with our students that are rooted in our core values and beliefs:
- Respect for all individuals
- Civil discourse
- Growth in knowledge and skills
- In-depth learning and critical thinking
- Development of responsible young adults
To this end, this year our school theme is, “Enhancing our sense of community.” There will be more about this throughout the year, especially at the WHS annual Open House on Thursday, September 9.
WHS is so very fortunate to enjoy the generous support of our community, an extraordinary faculty and staff, and a great student body. Our obligation is to use these financial and human resources carefully. Thank you for your critical support of our efforts. If a parent or student has any questions about the school year please be sure to seek out a teacher, department head, counselor, or administrator early in the process.
Please review the items in the newsletter below. It’s full of information I hope you find helpful for making the most of the new year ahead.
Mr. Brian M. Callaghan

Superintendent Bock sent an email out regarding the 2021/22 Bus Schedule. Here are some key things to anticipate that will help ensure a good start:
It is important for you to anticipate that the first two weeks of bus routes will take time to smooth out.
Your patience and understanding is part of that process, and the other part of the process is our team working to solve problems quickly.
Bus routes, drivers, and stops CAN change over the course of the year if we need to manage adding new students to bus routes during the year.
Stops have to be grouped. We do our best – but there will be times when we cannot meet your requests. Every stop adds time to the routes.
The bus routes have been posted to our website as of today. Please review the bus stops carefully. Students should use the bus stop that is the closest walking distance from their homes. We strongly recommend that students arrive at their stops 10 minutes before the indicated pick-up time. Bus routes and pick-up/drop-off times are approximate based on enrollment, which can change, and buses can run a bit early or late on any given day. Additionally, parents/guardians are cautioned that buses may run late the first few days of school as drivers and families adjust themselves to new schedules, new routes, and in some cases, new schools. If you have questions about our bus policies please visit our Frequently Asked Questions page.
