SHS Administration Team Message
November 19, 2020
Greetings Silver Knight Families
Yesterday you should have received the news that Weld RE4 secondary schools will be moved to off-campus learning November 30- December 18. We want to reiterate that the reason for the move to off-campus learning is not due to a school outbreak.
As your students return to off-campus learning after the Thanksgiving break, we want to review and remind families of our learning expectations.
Schedule:
We will remain on the same schedule that we are following this week.
Students in ZONE/GROUP A:
Monday and Thursday
Follow new Off Campus Synchronous Learning Schedule
Tuesday and Friday
Asynchronous/Independent Learning. Check Canvas classes for learning tasks.
Wednesday
Follow traditional Wednesday At Home Learning Schedule that students have already been doing
Students in ZONE/GROUP B:
Monday and Thursday
Asynchronous/Independent Learning. Check Canvas classes for learning tasks.
Tuesday and Friday
Follow new Off Campus Synchronous Learning Schedule
Wednesday
Follow traditional Remote Wednesday Learning Schedule that students have already been doing
Off-campus synchronous learning will take place through Google Meets and can be accessed by students by using the following established nickname format. This format is the teacher’s last name, followed by the block (i.e. BrownhillN2, BrownhillN4, BrownhillN6, BrownhillAdv, BrownhillN8). Students are expected to attend their classes as they would on the days they would normally be in person via these google meets codes.
Google Meet Expectations:
Students are expected to be present in all synchronous learning via Google Meets and to stay present for the entirety of the class. We have seen a few students joining the Google Meet for a few minutes and then leave. This will be considered an absence.
Class time is a priority. We ask that students are in appropriate class settings and not surrounded by distractions. (Ie: out to lunch with friends, driving in their cars, etc).
Doing work on Canvas is the expectations on ASYNCHRONOUS days. Only working in Canvas instead of also joining Google Meets on synchronous days is not acceptable. We need to see your students' smiling faces!
While students are in the Google Meet classes, they are expected to engage, participate and add to the learning experience.
We will follow up tomorrow with more detailed information on Virtual Learning expectations, attendance guidelines and technology tips.
