Westside Pack Post
May 2022
A Message From Mrs. Anderson
April was a busy month at Westside and it looks like May is going to be just as busy! In April, students in grades 3, 4, 5, and 6 worked hard on their state assessments. We are so proud of all of our Westside students and their drive to learn. They are amazing! In May, we have several fun activities planned as we wrap up the school year. It was been a joy being with your students this school year. They teach me something new every day and I am grateful for the opportunity to be their principal. Let's finish this year strong!

Free and Reduced Lunch
It is very important that every family at Westside fills out the free and reduced lunch application, even if you don't think you will qualify. Our school receives funding from the state based on the results of these applications. Please take a few minutes to fill out the application by following this link: https://www.d91.k12.id.us/administration/20 An online application is available as well as a link to print off a paper form and return to Westside.
2022-2023 School Year
In late June, students will receive their report card and a letter through the mail stating their assigned teacher for next year. A copy of next year's supply list will be sent home with students before the end of the year. This can also be found on District 91's website. If students are on a waiver, they will receive their class assignment in August before school starts. Our first day of school next year is August 23, 2022.
Kindergarten Registration
Registration for incoming Kindergarten students is now open on District 91's website. All students who will turn 5 on or before September 1 should register for kindergarten.
Returning Students Registration
Registration for current Westside students who will be returning to Westside next year is now open. By now, you should have been emailed a snap code specific to your student. That code will be used in PowerSchool for you to register your student for next year. Please call our office with questions.
Counselor's Corner
For the month of April, our classroom social skill lessons focused on emotional regulation. We read the book, "Out of A Jar" by Deborah Marcero. Check it out here: Out of a Jar. This book explained what happens when we hold on to too many emotions at once. Together, we identified many coping strategies that can help us manage our emotions. I hope your children are sharing all of their ideas with you!
