The Populist Movement
-The Populist movement was a revolt by farmers in South and Midwest
-Throughout the 1880's local political action groups known as farmers, alliances sprang up among middle Western and Southerners, who were not happy because falling prices and crop failure.
-1882 their leaders organized the populist to be achieved by unlimited coinage of silver a graduated income tax the US senators give farmers economic parity with business industry.
-in 1892 the populist candidate James b weaver polled 22 electoral votes and more than 1,000,000 popular votes.
