From the Principal’s Desk
Kia ora Tātou
This morning it was my absolute privilege to escort Ayden Kumar (one of our School Leaders) up our Maunga with Ngati Tumutumu Trust. We participated in a hikoi, that drove up to the summit to watch Matariki rise and then enjoyed the blessings and karakia as part of this celebration .
It was a wonderful experience and both Ayden and myself learnt many things about Matariki that we did not know. A huge thank you to Ngati Tumutumu for including us and allowing us to a part of this cultural practice.
Swimming Pool
Kelby and the crew from KS Landscape and Build are back, and our pool fence is just about completed. This is part of our new safety fencing and will help us to keep all our tamariki safer. Thanks to Kelby and his team for doing such a fantastic job around the school and also for donating our lovely new letterbox.
Ngā mihi nui

Westpac Chopper Colouring Competition
To mark the 40th anniversary of the Westpac chopper, students were given a colouring competition to complete and our Stanley Avenue students and families made very generous donations towards the Westpac Chopper appeal.
Students across the school did a fabulous job of their colouring in competitions and 9 winners across the junior, middle and senior teams were announced in assembly last Friday.
Thank you very much for supporting such a great cause and congratulations to the winners and participants.

Did anyone see the Glitter Lizard in Room 9?
Poor Miss Griffin was the number 1 suspect for most of the morning!! Much discussion was had, about how the glitter got there, who actually did it, and was a lizard even involved?
Check out the wonderful writing that came from this little adventure.
Please note...Mrs Roskam did indeed confess later in the day and was repremanded by the class for her trickery!!
Well done Room 9.
On Monday morning glitter was all over the floor and a lizard was in it. The lizard jumped out of the big book but Miss Griffin slipped over on the carpet. Hayden Smith
On a rainy day there was three cones, 2 creatures and glitter. First was a lizard and 2nd was a crocodile from the book Rabbit and Rooster’s ride. Caleb Dunsmuir
One morning when no one was at school only the teachers were there. Miss Griffin might have moved the glitter but then she dropped it on the ground because she wanted to play in it. She made two lizards but when Mrs Roskam came Miss Griffin quickly ran to do her job. When I walked in I was confused. Indi Coombe
Yummy Apple School Sticker competition
This year is the 25th anniversary for the Yummy Apple Sticker Promotion. For the next two terms Stanley Ave will be taking part in this promotion to try and earn some amazing sports equipment!
All you need to do is purchase any of the Yummy apple varieties and bring the stickers to school! Alternatively , if you purchase a bag of these apples, send the cut out from the bag to school.
Every point counts !
1 sticker = 1 point
1 cut out = 10 points
If you have any questions, please contact Miss Williams in Room 7.
