Spanish Update from Señora Grattan
¡Hola! I am so happy to be here at Mason this year, and I hope that your children are enjoying Spanish, too! Our Spanish classes are off to a great start. 3rd graders have been studying greetings, courtesy, numbers 1-30 for age, emotions, and descriptive vocabulary. We will be finishing up this unit with Frida Kahlo and our own self-portraits. 4th graders have been working on weather, dates, and large numbers. Soon will be tying in our weather vocabulary with a unit on Peru and clothing. 5th graders had an introduction to the culture and history of Spain to start the year. We are currently comparing and contrasting the hobbies and sports that we enjoy with those of Spain. ¡Nos gusta hablar español!
I hope that you will continue to encourage them to review their vocabulary at home, and that you will allow them to teach you some new vocabulary, too! Being bilingual is a wonderful gift, and they are on their way! I would also like to encourage you to visit our class website at http://sragrattan.weebly.com/ to see what we are up to.
¡Gracias por todo!
Atentamente,
Señora Grattan
Cold and Flu Season Is Here!
- Handwashing is like a "do-it-yourself" vaccine—it involves five simple and effective steps (Wet, Lather, Scrub, Rinse, Dry) you can take to reduce the spread of diarrheal and respiratory illness so you and your family can stay healthy.
- Children need to stay home when they are sick. This helps keep illness from spreading.
- Please do not bring your child into school with a fever! Children need to be FEVER FREE FOR 24 HOURS before returning to school.
- Report all contagious illnesses to the office (313-432-4400). Please call the attendance line before 8:45 a.m. when your child is out sick, or coming in late (313-432-4401).
- Head Lice - The best way to keep head lice from spreading through your family, and the school, is to be proactive and make checking a weekly routine. Please be sure to call the office to report head lice so we can have room checks scheduled. All information is kept confidential.
