Resurrection-St. Paul School
Encounter Christ's Presence - Year of the Eucharist
October 24th, 2021
Dear RSPS Families,
What a great day we had on Friday for the Race for Education. The students did an amazing job running their hearts out, and we are hoping their efforts paid off for you with an early bedtime on Friday night. Thanks to your generosity, we have raised over $40,000 and counting! Keep an eye out for more information about our final number and student prizes.
Please continue reading all of the information below which includes a letter from Chancellor Jim Sellinger and Superintendent Donna Hargens. More information regarding the masking will be forthcoming this week.
Thank you for your ongoing support and dedication to RSPS. Have a great Sunday!
Sincerely,
Ryan Hellem
Principal
Mask Status - 10/25 - 10/30
*** Mandatory Masking for 7 days to insure Transmission Level has stabilized at Moderate Transmission Level or below as measured by the State of Maryland 7 Day Moving Average for Cases per 100K.
Halloween Parade, Party, and Costume Guidelines
Parade - 1:15 - 1:30
The K-5 Halloween Parade begins at 1:15 in the circle. All parents are invited to come and spread out in the circle. If you plan to attend, please near the cafeteria. Grades 6-8 will join in cheering on the K-5 grades.
Parties - 1:30 - 3:00
Parties will be after the parade for the students. Due to space limitations, only the homeroom parents will be allowed to help support the parties indoor. Thank you for your understanding.
Costumes
Students in K-5 will have the opportunity to change into their costumes after lunch for the parade (6-8 = no costume). Students should not wear their costume to school. When helping your child choose a costume to wear to school, keep in mind that all costumes should be in line with the values of RSPS. Additional guidelines
- No Halloween masks
- No Make-up (blood, face paint, etc.)
- No Weapons
Please remember that it is everyone’s responsibility to create a safe, welcoming environment for all students and families. If you have any questions about a costume’s appropriateness or general questions, please feel free to contact Mr. Hellem or Ms. Santucci.
Flyers & Other Information
Walk for the Homeless - On Friday, all students and staff will walk for the homeless. We are hopeful that our spirit shirts will be delivered in time for students to wear them for the event. If they are available, please wear the shirt with PE pants or shorts. IF the shirts are unavailable, students may dress in orange and black. Details will be sent out later this week.
In addition, please send in $1 with each student to donate to support the cold weather shelter at St. Paul Church. Checks can be written to St. Paul Church.
Thank you for your support in continuing this RSPS tradition. We have raised more than $21,000 over the last fifteen years for this outreach project.
School Directory Opt Out - We are preparing to upload the Family Directory. Please complete this form ONLY IF YOU CHOOSE TO NOT HAVE YOUR INFORMATION INCLUDED. Responses are due by Tuesday, Oct. 27.
Picture Retake Day - Will NOT be on the 27th. The Picture Retake and Make Up Day is being rescheduled to Wednesday, November 17. The schedule change is due to a production issue with Lifetouch that has caused a delay in getting the picture packages and proofs to us. We will send additional information prior to the 17th on how to schedule a make up or retake session. Our PK classes that meet on M/W/F will be included in the retake day automatically.
Service Hours - Service Hours can now be logged in using the link found on our website.
Any family with carryover hours from last school year, will have those hours added to your account by next week. Please review our Parent/Student Handbook for more details pertaining to service hour obligations.
Flynn Ohare Order Update - The good news is that, to date, we have processed and shipped more than 90% of school uniforms to partner school families, and are working around the clock to ship the remaining orders as quickly as possible. We are happy to share that lead times for your school families will drop to 7-14 business days by the end of this month, with the majority of orders (75%+) processing in less than 10 days. We will be sending a weekly update as these timelines continue to decrease.
If you have any specific concerns, your sales rep, Mike Cleary, is available anytime to answer questions at (215) 852-2364 or via email at mcleary@flynnohara.com.

Scholastic Book Fair
Thank you to all of our wonderful students, parents, grandparents, teachers, volunteers and staff that helped make our Scholastic Book Fair a big success! Though the total amount is not in yet, this is one of our best Fairs yet. The profit from your purchases helped build classroom libraries and will bring new books to our Media Center. Special thanks to Cristina David and Cristen Boarman for their collaboration, hard work, patience, and kindness. Additional special thanks to Jennifer Walker and Resolute Technologies for their generosity and donating the reusable shopping bags. They were a big hit (and a big help.) Finally, a huge thanks to Terrie Simonic for organizing and making the whole event possible this year!
