Ebenezer Elementary School
January 2024
Message from the Principal
Dear Ebenezer Families,
During December, Ebenezer was busy with the hustle and bustle of the holiday season. The annual holiday shop provided students with the opportunity to buy gifts for friends and family during the school day. Buying gifts for others gives students the chance to experience the feeling of giving to others. This was made possible by the dedicated PTE, teachers, and volunteers (including CCHS students).
The fourth and fifth grade chorus and Ebenezer’s show choir, under the leadership of Mrs. Dundore, provided students, faculty, parents, family members, and guests with an outstanding holiday chorus concert. Ebenezer students were also treated to a special holiday concert featuring the Ebenezer band and orchestra under the direction of Mr. Thompson and Dr. Campbell. Thank you to all of the musicians, singers, and directors for their time and talent!
During our monthly SOAR Day students were recognized for being our SOARing students of the month. They also participated in their SOAR groups and talked about the character trait for the month, empathy. January’s character trait, acceptance, ties in nicely with Dr. Martin Luther Kings Jr.’s message of accepting others for who they are as a person and not judging others by their appearances.
During the month of January, the 2nd marking period will end on January 22nd. Starting in the third marking period (1/23/24), Ebenezer will add STEM as a special class which will be replacing technology. This will begin our five-day specials rotation that will continue for the remainder of the year.
Happy New Year
Mr. Gregory Fulkerson
Principal

Kids Heart Challene (KHC)
From Mr. Bare
Hello Ebenezer! Kids Heart Challenge (KHC) is ready to roll for 2024. Our 28th Annual KHC for Kindergarten is Thursday, February 15, while KHC for grades 1 – 5 is Friday, February 16. Here’s what you need to know:
· I (Mr. Bare) am sending home KHC information & envelopes with all students the beginning of January.
· One of our goals is to get 100% participation. We’ve done this many times in the past. You can sign up at the link below (that’s the best way to sign-up and raise money) or return a signed paper permission slip from the collection envelope. Your choice. Please try to sign-up by Fri, February 2.
· A second goal is raising the second most amount of money in school history - $54,642. We can do this, but we’ll need everyone to do their part. Last year we set the school record when we raised $61,000+ for the American Heart Association. This total was #1 in Pennsylvania! In gym class, I’ll be reminding the students to Never Give Up and always Try Their Best in all they do. I’m thankful for your efforts.
· Online fundraising is the best way to raise money for the American Heart Association. You can download the Kids Heart Challenge app, register with Ebenezer Elementary School, and get started.
· $200+ in donations gets your child’s name written on a laminated picture of Heart Hero Beat placed on the Ebenezer KHC Wall of Fame in the gymnasium.
· $250+ in donations gives your child the opportunity to pop a “Party Popper” on Mr. Fulkerson and myself IF the school goal is met. What fun!
· Here is the link to sign up online. Once you click on the link, just click on the red “Sign up” box to get started. https://www2.heart.org/site/TR?fr_id=9739&pg=company&company_id=432608

- If your child has tested positive for COVID, please inform your child’s healthcare provider and follow their guidance regarding a return-to-school date. A note from the healthcare provider should be submitted to the school office upon your child’s return to school. In the event the provider’s note does not indicate a return date, the school nurse will work with parents/guardians to determine a return date, based on CDC guidelines.
