MCCHS FRIDAY FOCUS
70th Edition: April 13, 2018
Pilgrims on the Way of Truth
Half-Way Through 4th Quarter...ALREADY?!
This quarter is flying by! Our incredible MC Choir just finished their whirlwind tour of our fantastic deanery schools this week, and loved performing in front of all the students! We have so many exciting year-end activities coming up - there will be something happening every week leading up to our finals and graduation!
Our students in Composition/Speech class will be out touring the Deanery schools this week, sharing their literary creations with the younger children! We will also be sending off our W.Y.S.E. team to their STATE competition! Come see Godspell Jr. next weekend (check out info below!) and be absolutely blown away by the talent of our student-actors and crew! And finally, we will close out our week with a wonderful All-School Mass celebrated in Landers Pavilion on Friday morning!
We wish all of our sports teams the best as they compete at home and away this coming week! Let's pray that the weather is spring-like enough to have competitions and practices!
A Note Regarding the April 20th Protests
We understand that there is another nation-wide student walk-out protest that is set to occur on Friday, April 20th. This particular event has been reported to be a "walk-out/stay-out" which poses countless security issues for our students and school, as well as presents a major disruption to school instruction. Marian Central Catholic High School does not endorse any walkout that disrupts the educational process. Students will be encouraged to remain in their classes and continue with their lessons at hand. Any walk-out will be deemed as truancy (with disciplinary consequences) and will be recorded as an unexcused absence (which has academic consequences) as we would with any situation where a student leaves the building without prior parent-permission. We ask that you stress the importance of remaining in class, focusing on work-at-hand, and refraining from any type of protest during school hours.

Tuition Payments Due April 16th
A friendly reminder to all families, tuition should be paid in full by Monday, April 16th.
The Council of Administration policy states:
No student will be allowed to take first semester exams unless his/her tuition is current. Therefore, a minimum of one-half of the family tuition must be paid prior to the first semester exam dates in January. No student will be allowed to take second semester exams unless his/her tuition and any other fees are paid in full. In the event a family finds itself in an extraordinary circumstance, a request for an exception to the first semester payment policy can be made to the Superintendent. The written request is to include an explanation of the extraordinary circumstance accompanied by a payment plan. The Superintendent has the authority to make such an exception if it is deemed appropriate and the payment plan is acceptable. A family’s payment history will be examined in making such a decision. There are no exceptions to this policy at the end of the second semester. Once two weeks of a quarter are completed, the full quarter's tuition is required.
To make tuition payments online, please CLICK HERE (please note there will be a 3% surcharge for any credit card charges) or send check (payable to Marian Central Catholic) to the school office.

SENIORS: Worried About Exam Exemptions?
Please review the Exam Exemption & Appeal Form. At the BOTTOM of the form, there is an APPEAL box that we encourage students to check if you believe one of the criteria should be re-evaluated in your case. What does this mean to you? Well, let's say your Quarter 3 grade for a class dips below that 91%, BUT you absolutely pull your Quarter 4 grade up. Simply check the "Appeal" box - explain your grade for the class, and we will consider the exemption!
When is the Exam Exemption & Appeal Form due?
Students who wish to be considered for exemptions MUST submit the completed form to the school office by 3:00 pm on Friday, May 4th. We will not allow exemptions if we do not have this form completed. We need this form early enough to run a complete audit of all criteria (grades, attendance, discipline.) We will notify you in writing exactly which exams have been approved for exemptions within one week of receipt.
As stated when we launched this program, this is our "beta" year - so we are anticipating a few bumps as we work through the process. We appreciate all the support and patience as we test this out this year. We will also release a brief survey at the end of the school year for feedback so we can make improvements for Year 2!
