Message From the Principal
This will serve as my last newsletter for Lake Tapps Elementary School. I've enjoyed my time serving the staff, students and community of this great little school for the last 7+ years! When I was asked if I would be interested in the new Director position, it took me a couple days to decide. When I finally made the decision to accept the offer for the new position, it had nothing to do with being unhappy in my Principal role. Lake Tapps Elementary is an amazing school, with students who come to school ready to learn, and an amazingly supportive parent community. I just started my 32nd year in education--27th serving as an elementary school principal. Dieringer is the 3rd district I've served as an elementary principal, so I'm not one to move around a lot. It all boiled down to simply being ready for a new challenge. I will continue to serve the students and community in the role of Director of Maintenance, Operations and Transportation. I look forward to being able to visit Lake Tapps Elementary to see the kids.
As I exit this position, I'd like to welcome Paula Bond as the interim principal for the remainder of this school year. She and I spent all day Wednesday together, and part of the day today. She also spent time with the staff getting to know them, and them getting to know her. She comes to us with extensive experience in education. She was introduced to the students on Wednesday at lunch time as she was learning the routines that are in place. I will be close by to assist with her transition. We will be holding a meet-and-greet with parents on October 5, at 6:00pm, here at LTES in the gym. Everyone is welcome to join us to meet Ms. Bond and start to get to know her.
There will be an extensive interview process in the spring to hire a permanent principal for the school. If you are interested in serving on that interview team, please watch for more communication from our superintendent sometime in March.
Thank you for all of your support and commitment to your kids' growth. Parents are kids' first teacher, and you've done an amazing job raising terrific kids so far!
Have a great weekend!

PTA Walkathon
We hope that everyone is getting the year off to a good start. This is our one and only fundraiser that the PTA will be doing this year and the money that we raise helps to fund all the fun events throughout the year; as well as support the teachers and schools with special funding requests. This year our events team is excited to be able to do all the fun events that have been offered in previous (to covid) years, including the holiday shop, father/ daughter dance, mother/son night and the end of the year carnival to name a few.
This year we decided that we would provide shirts (free of charge) to the students and staff to help bring everyone together the day of the walk-a-thon. We also scaled back on some of the individual prizes in order to offer more class prizes to the students. In an effort to help get as many students as we can to participate we are offering 2 pizza parties per grade level, 1 for the highest class participation for the grade and 1 for the highest amount raised for the grade. This means that there will be a total of 12 pizza parties between the K-5 grades. We will work with preschool on what type of party they would like to have for their class.
Here is the link for the pledgestar website PledgeStar (https://pledgestar.com/ltes/?)
New this year with PledgeStar is that once you have set up the students account you can go under the "Share on Social Media and other ways" tab and print out a sheet that the student can take if they are planning to collect donations in person. On this sheet it will include a little about what we are raising money for and a personal QR code that anyone can scan with their phone to make an online donation direct to PledgeStar for the student, no more having to collect and carry money around.
Please feel free to reach out to us with any questions you or families might have. We are hoping that we can at least match, if not exceed, what we raised last year; which was around $86,000 .
Thank you for all your support, we appreciate all that you do for our students,
