My Life Goals
(Patrick Driscoll)
Four week goal: Losing ten pounds
This goal is motivated by my desire to get into better shape. This is an intrinsic motivator because the only motivation is me feeling better about what I look like. I'm also motivated by the want to look a bit slimmer in a bathing suit.
Four month goal: Going to College
Keene State College Bound!
My mom motivates me to get this goal accomplished. I've got a good incentive to do it too. It will means I will have gotten my entrinsic motivator. My entrinsic motivator is my high school diploma. My intrinsic motivator is that I'm excited to leave the house and start college. This is the incentive theory as my incentive is leaving my parents house for the first time and having a high school diploma.

Four Year Goal: Moving Out
Spreading my Wings
This is motivated by wanting to feel a sense of independence. This motivation is mostly extrinsic motivation as the award is my own house/apartment. However there is some intrinsic motivation as I will feel good that I can support myself. This drive also falls into the instinct theory. All humans have a drive to feel independent and move away from their parents.
Forever Goal: To be And To Stay Into Shape
Staying Fit
The motivation for this goal is to live an extra two to three decades. Both intrinsic and extrinsic motivation are in play here. My intrinsic motivation is that working out is fun for me. The extrinsic motivation is that I will get to see the new 80's. The motivation theory here is the Drive-Reduction theory of motivation. Staying in shape will allow me to achieve homeostasis and I will feel balanced because of my physical abilities.
