Big picture

Dear Families,

I can't believe it's October! It seems like not too long ago we were preparing to start this school year. We are into our routines and procedures at school. Our students are showing up, trying their best, and learning so much. I'm grateful for being at a school where our community of students, staff, and families is so supportive and determined to do the best for our kids.

9/30-10/8 - Minimum Day Schedule

PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCES 1st-5th Grades

Teachers will be meeting with families for parent-teacher conferences. Your classroom teacher will be reaching out to you soon if they haven't already about scheduling conferences. 1st-5th grade students have a minimum day during conference week. 1st-5th grades will be released at 12:30 each day from 9/30-10/8. Students who ride the bus will eat lunch on campus and depart at 1:00 pm. Kindergarten students already had conferences and will keep their regular schedule.

Save the date for the Harvest Carnival October 29th

This year we will have a safe and modified Harvest Carnival. Family members will be able to volunteer on campus by providing proof of vaccination. More details will be coming after the fall break.

K-4 Music Class Update

Classroom Music at Meadow Heights is well underway! Thank you for the opportunity to spend valuable time with your children. We intend to maximize our 30 minutes a week. As usual, a lot will be accomplished in the coming months!

Throughout the year, once the children have gone a little deeper into the curriculum, your classroom teacher will provide you with links to access your child’s Song pdfs and backtracks.

Thanks again to our PTA for choosing to support Classroom Music with Myriad / Music Matters at Meadow Heights.

Overview & Enhancements: 2021-2022 Myriad/Music Matters Curriculum

The Myriad / Music Matters Classroom Curriculum is especially tailored for Kindergarten to 4th Grade students. Music education provides a forum for team-building, ensemble & solo skills, learning a new language, diction, reading and visual tracking, musical literacy, dictation, ear-training, developing the singing voice, breathing techniques, hand-eye coordination, Ukulele Foundations, Orff pedagogy, mallet/hand percussion instruments, performance poise, and self evaluation. All of the materials and instruments are chosen and designed to be fun and success-based so that the students view themselves as informed, capable, literate musicians before they enter chorus or band beyond 4th grade and into middle school / high school years.
