What's Up in 4th Grade!
Language Arts
The next two weeks, fourth grade is going to be immersed in a "Reading Bootcamp" where students will be reviewing different literary concepts like theme, summarizing, inferencing, text -structure, point of view etc. which will help them for the upcoming Reading STAAR!
However, we will also be working on our weekly story and the skills associated with it.
Spelling: Words with /en/
Latin Root: vor meaning eat greedily
Literary Concepts:Story structure and problem and solution
Grammar: Irregular Verb and Adverb
Math
On Wednesday we began a new unit on personal financial literacy.
We will be using or math knowledge to calculate money that is saved and spent, understanding the difference between fixed expenses (occur on a regular basis) and variable expenses (do not occur on a regular basis), as well as basic purposes of financial institutions (deposit, withdraw money, keep a balance of money).
The test is scheduled for Tuesday, April 25.

Next week our students will begin a study of life science focuses on the living elements of our world, their interaction with each other, and how their interaction with living and nonliving things allows them to live and survive in an ecosystem. Students will investigate the important role of ecosystems in supporting life, how energy derived from the Sun flows within them, and how they can change over time.
