School Safety
- This semester, within the first 10 days of school, students will have had four major drills. These drills include Lockdown, Shelter in Place, Evacuation, and Secure.
- FBISD also has other new procedures in place, such as exterior door safety audits, to make sure they are all functioning properly.
- Classroom doors will remain locked during the day. Students are taught to seek teacher permission before opening the door to any adult.
- Rhino locks are installed on all classroom doors. These locks are activated in the case of a Lockdown.
- All visitors will be required to show proper ID and screened through our Raptor system before visiting any part of the campus.
In addition, at the Fort Bend ISD Board Meeting last week, FBISD Police Chief David Rider and Coordinator of Emergency Management Bart Rosebure presented vital information about safety and security measures in place at our schools.
Please take time to review the chief’s report to the Board. You can see the entire presentation (Agenda Item 7A Safety and Security Update) beginning about 6:50 p.m. on the meeting recording’s timeline by using this link: HTTPS://WWW.FORTBENDISD.COM/BOARDMEETINGLIVESTREAM

We continue to add students and staff. If your child will have a different classroom than originally assigned, you will receive a phone call from the school. Tell your neighbors to get registered!

Each year our campus is allocated a certain number of teachers according to the enrollment. Many of our Kindergarten and Pre-K students are enrolled just a few days before school starts. First Day of School!
Parents may choose to drop-off students at the door or escort students to their classroom on the first two days of school. Please arrive no later than 7:50 am and leave quickly so that students may participate in the planned welcome back activities. Starting Friday, August 12, all students will enter the building independently. We will have additional staff to help students find their way. Students should be in class by 7:50 a.m. daily.
We will continue to implement our procedures that keep our students and staff safe during the school day. Visitors in the building will be asked to sign in through our Raptor system with a state issued id or driver's license. Visitors for lunch must be listed in Skyward or be accompanied by a parent who is listed in Skyward. VISITORS AT LUNCH
ARRIVAL
The doors at RPE open at 7:30 a.m. Traffic is less congested between 7:30-7:50. Please plan to arrive no later than 8:00 a.m. each day for school. Students are tardy after 8:10. RPE has over 600 students coming through the doors. In order to help the flow of traffic, we ask that you support us with the following in order to keep our rockets safe and the car line moving.
- Make sure your child is ready to exit the car. Everything your child needs should be zipped up in their backpack. Breakfast in the car should be finished and put away.
- Make sure backpacks are in the car with the student and not in the trunk.
- Do not drop kids off in the parking lot and allow them to walk across the front circle drive by themselves through traffic. This is a safety issue.
- For the safety of all students and to keep the car line moving, students are to get out of the vehicle on the passenger side.
DISMISSAL
Dismissal is at 3:25. It is important that your child’s teacher knows how your child will go home daily and during a rainy-day dismissal. If you need to make a change in your child’s dismissal plan, you must notify the teacher in writing. The campus monitors the weather and will make a rainy-day dismissal call at 3:00 p.m. as needed. Please pack your patience during car rider dismissal. If your child is a car rider, please stay in your car and go through the car rider line. For safety and security, refrain from walking up to the campus' front doors. We will not dismiss students from the doors if they are listed as car riders. In the first couple of weeks, the car rider line will be slow. However, it does get faster with time and practice. Keep in mind that we have new students who will be in school for the very first time in their academic career, welcoming new students, and students who will have a new car number to memorize. In addition, we have new staff members who are also learning RPE’s dismissal procedures. We appreciate your patience and grace.
Please allow extra time for buses to arrive at their drop off locations. This will also get faster as the year progresses.
