A Note from the Principal
For an amazing 41 years, we have been blessed by the dedication and commitment of a wonderful teacher who has touched the lives of so many students. It is bittersweet to share with all of you that Mrs. Mary Connors, our junior high Language Arts teacher, will retire at the end of the 2021-2022 school year. While we are sad to see her leave our school, we are happy she has the opportunity to spend more time with her family and enjoy some relaxation!
Mrs. Connors began her career at Saint Paschal Baylon as a fifth grade teacher in 1981, but the great majority of her career has been spent in Room 20 honing our students' writing skills and ensuring our seventh and eighth graders know their grammar and parts of speech. She has coached our Power of the Pen teams for more than 25 years leading students to the state competition almost every year as well as guiding students to national writing awards in the Scholastic Writing competition. Mrs. Connors also started our Signing Angels group. For more than 25 years, she has taught our eighth grade girls a song to perform in sign language as a prayerful reflection during Catholic Schools Week. Her energy, warmth, sense of humor, and faith-filled nature have been hallmarks of her teaching. Mrs. Connors has truly been a positive example for our students and for her fellow teachers. She is the epitome of what it means to be a Catholic educator. Her commitment and dedication to the students she has taught as well as to SPB is obvious.
We are so grateful to Mrs. Connors who has given selflessly of her time and talent in educating and taking care of so many students during her 41-year career. Please mark your calendars for May 25 when we will recognize Mrs. Connors at the 9:00 Mass. While she will undoubtedly be missed as the years continue, Mrs. Connors will never be forgotten by so many who crossed her path on a daily basis. What a true blessing she has been to our school community for so many years. We wish her the best in her retirement!
Peace and blessings,
Diane Raguz, Principal

Green Knight-Carlo Dascoli
Carlo Dascoli is a third grade student at Saint Paschal Baylon who is our Green Knight for the third quarter! Teachers were quick to share that Carlo was the perfect choice as our Green Knight. He was nominated by Mrs. Uzzo. She shared, “Carlo made an impression on me beginning with day one when he entered the classroom greeting me by name. He hasn’t missed a day since. Carlo greets me in the morning and says goodbye before he leaves. He takes it upon himself to be caring, kind, and compassionate to those around him and he puts others before himself. Carlo follows the definition of a Green Knight when he shows courage, character, compassion, and civility on a daily basis.” Mrs. Longano continued, “As Carlo's 2nd grade teacher, I could always count on him to lead by example and do the right thing. Carlo's character is a shining example of a true Green Knight.” Ms. Raguz went on to say, “ Carlo consistently sets a positive example for his classmates. He has a kind heart and a gentle soul, and he is such a positive light in our school.” Mrs. Sarosy shared that Carlo is always trying his best and is a friend to all.
Carlo’s family consists of his mom, dad, and step-mom. Carlo also has a sister Capri in second grade and a brother Leo in preschool. The Dascoli family loves to spend time together. They enjoy celebrating together on their birthdays and going to fun places. In his spare time, Carlo enjoys art and video editing, and he hopes to play soccer soon as well. Carlo’s favorite subjects are art and music because he likes to play the ukulele and he likes to blend colors. In the near future, Carlo would like to participate in the spelling bee, and in the distant future, he would like to be a teacher because his SPB teachers inspire him.
When asked what makes him a Green Knight, Mr. Dascoli shared that Carlo is very kind, a pleasure to be around, and very thoughtful. Carlo’s step-mom said that Carlo is a very helpful sous chef who sets the table and tells great stories. Carlo’s mom shared that he is a genuine, true blue kid. Capri said that Carlo is a good student, and Leo loves that Carlo plays video games with him.
Friendly, thoughtful, and kind were words repeatedly used to describe Carlo. Miss Martinson summed it up by saying, “When I think of Carlo, I think of the saying--"Do what is right even if no one is looking!" Ms. Garcia shared, “I am proud to know that he has been selected as the Green Knight. He really deserves that title.” Congratulations, Carlo, on this well-deserved honor!
Spring Fling Art Contest--DEADLINE EXTENDED!
Picture it...your child's artwork featured on the cover of the Spring Fling booklet! The deadline for the Spring Fling Booklet Cover Contest has been extended to Thursday, April 7. Click HERE to read what it is all about. Two free ride tickets will be awarded to the winner who is featured on the front cover, and any finalists who have artwork included inside the booklet will receive one free ride ticket. Good luck!
Spring Fling Raffle Ticket Challenge
Spring Fling Raffle Tickets have been sent out, and Father Lane is challenging each class to sell those raffle tickets! Each family is encouraged to purchase raffle tickets to support our Catholic School. Whether one book or the entire set, any tickets you are able to sell will aid us in reducing our expenses and provide much needed revenue toward our excellent school. Spring Fling is one way we invest/subsidize our Catholic school and reduce our annual deficit.
The class with the greatest percentage of tickets sold will earn a pizza party. If multiple classes have 100% participation, each class will earn a pizza party courtesy of Father Lane.
If the entire school and every class makes its goal, Father Lane will shave his head on May 17 after the Saint Paschal Baylon Memorial Mass.
Please return ticket stubs and money to the school, making sure to indicate your family name and students' room numbers on the envelope. Good luck!
