Message from the Media Specialist
Dear Parents,
Learning to read is an exciting experience. You can foster this attitude by reading with your child whenever possible and by encouraging your child to pick up books and explore them. This special time can be a memorable experience for both you and your child.
Being able to choose a book and care for it is one of the first “grown-up” responsibilities a child is given. When your child's class visits the library we will spend time discussing proper library behavior and talking about how to carefully handle a book. Please model and reinforce these “grown-up” behaviors.
Books may be checked out for a period of two weeks. There is no fine for books overdue at the primary school. However, students are responsible for returning the book without damage. If damage occurs, the parent/guardian will be issued a fine. Leaking water bottles in book bags often damage books beyond repair.
I’m looking forward to many exciting story times this year in the media center!
Thank you for your support,
Mrs. Shorette
COMING SOON - Book Fair!!!
Monday, October 5- October 9, 2020
Here’s how the Book Fair works: Students will come to preview the fair with their class on Monday. Each class will have a buying time on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Friday the bookfair is open until noon for any last minute shoppers per class for 10 minutes.
The best way to send money for your child to the book fair is eWallet! eWallet gives students a safe, cashless way to shop at the in-school Book Fair! Families simply create a free eWallet account and funds are available instantly. Plus, family and friends can contribute, too! You can send a text to family that might buy a book for your child! Please click here to set up an eWallet account.
You may also send cash or check with your child made out to RHPS PTSO. Please put it in a Ziploc bag or envelope, write Book Fair on it, and write the child’s first and last name on it. We do not charge tax, but round to the nearest dollar. Example: $5.99= $6, most books end in 99 cents.
You may also shop online for our book fair:
https://www.scholastic.com/bf/rhps and all orders ship to your home! Due to COVID19, unfortunately we will not be utilizing volunteers or hosting family shopping this year.
The Parent Teacher Student Organization (PTSO) would like to welcome our Little Wildcats!!
PTSO would like to welcome all new and returning Richmond Hill Primary School students, staff and parents to the start of another exciting school year! By way of introduction, we are a group of parents who work together to make RHPS an excellent place to work and to learn. Through membership dues and fundraising efforts, such as our Read-A-Thon, we provide programs, resources and services that support our students and teachers including computer technology, playground equipment and staff appreciation days.
We ask and encourage you to participate in our meetings and events throughout the school year. Becoming a PTSO member does not mean you have to volunteer, but volunteering is a great way to connect with other RHPS parents and students. We always have plenty of opportunities for parents to get involved and look forward to having a fun year! If you have any questions, please feel free to email us at rhps.ptso@gmail.com and follow our Facebook page, Richmond Hill Primary School PTSO.
Membership Drive
Membership dues are $5.00 per family, per school.
The class in each grade who achieves the most participation by September 4th will receive a special treat (prepackaged) to take home!
***Due to the unique situation this year, we will be unable to receive cash or checks. Payments can only be made via Paypal to paypal.me/rhpsptso
BCS TO PROVIDE FREE MEALS FOR CHILDREN
Bryan County Board of Education - SEP 09, 2020
Bryan County Schools to Provide Free Meals for Children
In his position as U.S. Secretary of Agriculture, Georgia’s former Governor, Sonny Perdue, has been working towards an extension related to the National School Breakfast and Lunch program. Because of this extension, parents will no longer be required to register their children and there will be no assigned bus routes All children in the community, including those attending face-to-face instruction at school, will receive free breakfast and lunch.
Meals, which will consist of breakfast and lunch for 5 days, will be available each Thursday between 10:00 AM and 11:30 AM or until all meals are distributed. The School Nutrition and Transportation Departments are partnering to distribute the meals at the following locations:
