REMEMBERING SEPTEMBER 11TH
Dear Staff,
After announcements on Monday, I will read a short reflection on 9/11. Next, please have your children stand, lining the hallways to cheer and applaud as our heroes walk by, while giving high fives. When the music stops playing, we can resume our normal day. If you would like, feel free to share the poem below with your students.
We Shall Never Forget (9-11 Tribute)
Let the world always remember,
That fateful day in September,
And the ones who answered duties call,
Should be remembered by us all.
Who left the comfort of their home,
To face perils as yet unknown,
An embodiment of goodness on a day,
When men's hearts had gone astray.
Sons and daughters like me and you,
Who never questioned what they had to do,
Who by example, were a source of hope,
And strength to others who could not cope.
Heroes that would not turn their back,
With determination that would not crack,
Who bound together in their ranks,
And asking not a word of thanks.
Men who bravely gave their lives,
Whose orphaned kids and widowed wives,
Can proudly look back on their dad,
Who gave this country all they had.
Actions taken without regret,
Heroisms we shall never forget,
The ones who paid the ultimate price,
Let's never forget their sacrifice.
And never forget the ones no longer here,
Who fought for the freedoms we all hold dear,
And may their memory never wane,
Lest their sacrifices be in vain.

Announcements and Reminders
- Midterm of the Quarter: Please check your gradebooks and make sure you are updating those every week! At this point parents should be able to check grades in PowerSchool and have a very good idea of how their child is performing in every subject.
- Schedule Observations: Please begin sending me calendar invitations to observe you the weeks of September 18th- October 12th. This may take a few attempts because I only want to do two a day and there are some things already on my schedule. Thank you!
- Brag Tag Sheets: Due to Julie by Tuesday, September 19th
New Sub Coverage Plan for Elementary – Our ISTEP data shows we need to grow and one way we do that is with our RTI program. Due to this, we are limiting the use of Instructional Assistants when we do not have sub coverage.
When we do not have substitute teacher available and a teacher is absent we will do the following:
1) Pull a specials teacher to cover the class and we will either double up in a special or divide the class by the remaining specials
2) The grade level teacher's class will be divided among teammates in that same grade-level
3) We are no longer able to pull an IA as a first choice, as those covering classrooms for a full day must have a teaching or substitute license. Also, we need to maintain fidelity in our remediation programs.
- Title One Data: In the title one folder on the staff drive, you will find the spreadsheet listing who is on Lexia and Waterford. We need to update these as we make adjustments to licences.
- Envison Math: If you find and error with an online assessment, please report to the following website. https://pearsonnacommunity.force.com/support/s/k12-curriculum-support-form Please let me know if you continue to find grading errors.
- Common Assessments for Math: First semester K-2 not giving common assessment. For 3-5 Use Q1 Envision Benchmark Online. This may be given the week before or after the end of the quarter. Later add writing portion to inform instruction. In PowerSchool call the Benchmarks CA1, CA2, CA3, CA4
