Reading

We will read some Valentine's Day books this week to explore the use of rhyme and rhythm in writing. We will also review the story elements (beginning, middle, and end).

Writing

Students will be writing poems using patterns and AB rhymes.

Math

All week we will count collections of coins, and explore the relationship between the quarter, dime, nickel, and penny.

Please let your child explore with any spare change you have. Have them practice identifying the 4 different coins and their value. They can use their skip counting skills to count small collections of coins (pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters). There are many links to online games on my Wiki page - under Math is Fun.

Social Studies

We will learn about the different symbols of the United States.
