A Message From Mrs. Burko
Happy Spring! I hope you've had a fantastic weekend and got to enjoy the weather in some way today.
Tomorrow brings another new adventure in the 20-21 school year. I am sure that many of you have "first day of school" jitters as many of our students return to campus for the the first time in over a year. All I can say is, we are prepared and we cannot wait to meet you!
For those of your joining us remotely, we're looking forward to welcoming you back nearly a week since the last time we saw you. We'll see you at 9:45 for the start of advisory!
There is a lot of information for those coming back in person, about athletics for remote and in person students and from the Media Center.
Yours in Service,
Mrs. April Burko

Culbreth Middle School
For In Person Students
At this time, you and your student should have received their schedule with room locations. Please have your students bring it to school with them. This will help speed up the arrival process.
Attestation Form and Daily Screenings
Beginning tomorrow students need to have completed TWO different forms to attend classes.
COVID-19 Parent/Guardian Attestation From: ONE TIME completion PRIOR to arrival at school on March 22, 2021. HERE is the form.
Health Screening Questionnaire: DAILY completion prior to the arrival to campus. This can be done TWO ways; by using the ABC Science Collaborative APP OR verbally competing the Health Questionnaire on campus.
Arrival:
Walkers: Need to arrive on a campus and complete their daily health screening by the concession stand near the football field.
Car Riders: PRIOR to exiting the car, students need to pass the daily health screening procedures. Students will have their screening completed IN THE CAR. All passengers should have a mask on prior to staff approaching the car.
For the safety of staff and students in the parking lot you will only be able to exit and make a right on to Culbreth Road.
Bikers: Students will arrive and park their bike near the bike rack. They will complete the daily screening procedures on the bus rider side of the building.
Bus Riders: Students will have an assigned seat, wear a mask and have their temperature taken prior to riding the bus. Students will have their temperature taken a second time upon arrival to school a swell as completion of the daily Health Screening Questionnaire.
ALL students will receive 5 reusable cloth masks upon their arrival to school.
**STUDENTS WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ATTEND CLASSES IF THEY DO NOT PASS THE DAILY HEALTH SCREEN PROCEDURES
Car Rider Dismissal:
The first day your student attends in person learning they will be assigned an individualized number. They will receive a laminated, brightly colored card with their name and number on it for parents/guardians. Please display your laminated card daily to aid the dismissal process. A staff member will approach your vehicle and enter your student's individual number into an app that will alert staff and students that their ride is here.
Miscellaneous
Students need to bring their charged Chromebook, their charger and water to school with them each day.
Students will not be assigned a locker. They are responsible for ALL items they bring to school.
Health and PE
In-Person Students will attend PE live on the days they are in school. On the days students are learning remotely, they will have an asynchronous PE assignment to complete.
Remote Students will continue to attend PE as they have all year.
Athletics
Parents we have learned that communication emails with Spring Sports information via 8to18 have not been going out due to a technical issue. We are working with 8to18 to fix the problem. Below is important information regarding Spring Sports.

From the Media Center
As we return to school, students are strongly encouraged to keep reading!
There will be times during the day when students will have opportunities to read; such as morning study hall, lunch, and flex dismissal. The library will continue to provide many options to read through curbside pickup, ebooks from Sora and Hoopla, and classroom book delivery.
In-Person Students - Personal Book Delivery
Students attending school in-person can take advantage of our personal book delivery. To participate, students can request books through our online catalog. Once the books are ready, they will be personally delivered to their class. Students can also turn in books during the day using the drop box outside of the library.
Sora
We have a new ebook collection! Sora combines the CMS ebook and public library collections in one place! Students have signed up for Sora in advisory in February. It is available through this link and Clever in the CHCCS apps.
Hoopla
Hoopla is a service through the Orange Co Public Library. Students can check out ebooks and audiobooks using the account they created during advisory in December.
Curbside Book Pickup - Remote Learning Students
Book pickup is still available! Request books through the online catalog, and we will reserve them for you. Pickup is anytime during school hours.
We will continue curbside service throughout the rest of the school year.
