Tiger Families,

This week marks the beginning of the 2021 STAAR testing season. As a reminder, our high school students must take and pass five End of Course Exams - English 1, English 2, Algebra 1, Biology, and U.S. History in order to fulfill graduation requirements. This week, our students will take the English 1 test on Tuesday and the English 2 test on Thursday.

Please pay attention to the following information:

Conroe High School Ninth Grade Students:

The English 1 EOC will be on Tuesday, April 6th. All freshman students will need to report to the Ninth Grade Campus at the beginning of the school day. Your testing location will be posted on the walls throughout the building. Your English teachers will also discuss your room assignment. Virtual students will meet in the cafeteria at 7:30 on Tuesday. From there, we will escort you to your testing location.

The English 1 test is a five hour test and our goal is to start the test by 8:00 A.M.

Breakfast will be available in the cafeteria. Please eat a healthy breakfast Tuesday morning.

Please reach out to our testing coordinator Amber Rodriguez if you have any questions regarding the testing process.

On Thursday, we will need all freshmen to report to the Ninth Grade Campus. The main campus will be testing on Thursday. There will be no shuttles running to main during the school day on Thursday. If your first period class is at the main campus on Gold Days, you will report to the cafeteria at CHS9. Fifth and Seventh period students (that normally have class at Main) will report to the LGI at CHS9.

Spring Semester Exam Exemptions: We would like to expand our semester exam exemption policy for the Spring semester. By taking care of business academically and behaviorally, some of our students will have the option of being exempt. Our students that meet the criteria for exemption will not need to report to school at the time of the scheduled exam. They will have the option of being virtual for the exam time and will register their attendance remotely. All of our students may take their exams if they choose. Please see the attached requirements to qualify for the option of being exempt: https://chs9.conroeisd.net/wp-content/uploads/sites/51/2021/02/CHS-Final-Exam-Policy-2021.pdf

Physicals: Students needing physicals can obtain one at school on Tuesday, April 20 at CHS Main campus and Thursday, April 22 at CHS 9th campus. All students must register by Thursday, April 8 in order to get a physical on either day. Any student planning to be in athletics, drill team, cheer, band, or JROTC during the 21-22 school year will need a physical. The cost is $20, payable online when registering or cash/check the day of physicals. Contact the athletic trainers or your coach for more info on how to register.

Attendance: In-person students, if you are not sick, then we need you to be at school. If you are not able to attend due to being symptomatic, or being in quarantine, then you need to log into each days’ scheduled classes. If you are told to quarantine, then please let us know if you have connection issues at home and we will work with you to keep you connected to our learning platforms.

Vape Detectors - We have installed vape detection devices around our Main Campus. We have announced this to students on several occasions. I highly encourage you to speak to your children about the health and legal consequences associated with vaping.

Parents of the Class of 2021 - Be sure to view the Senior Update for important information: https://www.smore.com/sdq41

We will let you know the pick-up times for cap/gown and graduation tickets.

Please see below our schedule for next week and prepare accordingly. *We will have late arrival for our junior and senior students except for those who still need to pass the English II EOC to meet graduation requirements. We appreciate your continued support. If you have any questions or concerns, please let us know.
