News From the Nest
Week of February 1- February 5, 2021
Message from Principal Honohan
APS Family,
I look forward to the Park Life Virtual Falcon 5K, THIS Saturday. Make sure to register by TONIGHT, Jan. 31st.
Wednesday we encourage you to Walk & Roll to School or Anywhere.
Any middle school students interested in Track? Meet in the Gym from 2:15 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. after school Wednesday. Tryouts will be Wednesday-Friday. All students must have OCPS Physical and Paperwork turned in to Coach Howe before Wednesday.
Friday, the 5th, join us as we show gratitude to our beloved Crossing Guards by making a card or showing how much you care about them in your own way.
Thank you to our generous sponsors, volunteers and those who continue to partner with us to build our community and support our APS school family.

Principal, Audubon Park School K8

THIS Saturday, February 6, get outside and support APS by participating in our Virtual Park Life Falcon 5K! You pick the route and if you're not quite ready for 3.1 miles at once, pick a distance for you and your family to do together. You'll have a whole week to log your steps.
Since this will be the APS PTSA's only fundraiser for the 2020-2021 school year, we are adding an exciting sponsorship component for the event. If your student chooses to participate, all proceeds raised will help create an amazing Staff Appreciation Week in March. Be on the lookout for an email on how your child can fundraise once you've registered.
We appreciate your continued support and generosity. And a huge THANK YOU to our sponsors for your support!

6th Grade is back in the Garden!
Last week, all 6th grade students spent time preparing our garden and planting seeds for a spring harvest during their world history class. The garden is tied to various curriculum standards that are embedded within a project based learning assignment students work on during many of their core classes. We are excited to provide this opportunity for our face to face students and assist our LaunchED students in their home garden projects. Students on campus planted an herb bed, greens bed (spinach, romaine, butter lettuce) onions, radishes, carrots, cucumbers, and for the first time in APS garden history baby potatoes! Peppers and jalapenos are germinating in their science class to be transferred to the garden in warmer weather. Students from home are growing strawberries, tomatoes, herbs and even watermelons! Stay tuned for more exciting garden news!! Last week, all 6th grade students spent time preparing our garden and planting seeds for a spring harvest during their world history class. PTSA Happenings
Thank you Falcon Fund Donors!
The Falcon Fund is SO THANKFUL for our end of the year donors! With these gifts, along with some anonymous donations, we have raised over $53,000 as a Falcon family this school year. Investing in our children and our school has never been more important than now and we are so grateful for the most supportive and generous community.
We are still working on the finishing touches of our first FLEXIBLE LEARNING SPACE! Thank you to our donors for making this happen AND for allowing us to already place a second order for the next Flexible Learning Space.
Thank you to Mathnasium Winter Park for partnering and working with APS students and teachers!
