Willink Principal's Newsletter
Willink Titans CARE
September 6, 2019
Good evening Willink
It was a short week but an exciting one! I’m excited to see our students learn and grow this year.
I wanted to share a few new announcements but also encourage you again to look through the newsletter for the upcoming dates, parent portal information, news about next week’s book fair, and more.
As a reminder, Willink doors will be unlocked at 8:15 for students who are being dropped off early. Students may wait in the front vestibule until 8:35. Please do not drop students off before 8:15 as they will not be able to enter the building and we will not have supervision available before that time.
Willink will be hosting therapy dog(s) this school year. While these certified dogs can provide great benefits to students and staff, we also realize and take into consideration allergies and other individual needs as they relate to having animals in the building. Parents will be contacted if your child’s classroom will be affected so as to make any accommodations necessary.
With great chromebooks come great responsibility! As our students get used to their new devices, we want to share with you a couple resources that we will also use at school to help guide them toward appropriate use. Our Webster Educational Technology Department’s newsletter is attached as well as a link to Common Sense Media. Please take some time to explore both sites as they can inform you on everything from school policies to parents’ guides to movies and television.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend and I’m looking forward to seeing our students for their first full week of school.

If you have behavioral or social-emotional concerns, your child’s counselor would be the first point of contact. Again, working together we can help your child grow!
Willink In Action!
New String Bag Policy
Students may now carry String Bags during the school day. PTSA has two options available for purchase on their website (click image to link to website). These string bags are available now and will be throughout the school year. Students may also choose to use a different string bag as long as it does not exceed the size dimensions of 17.75"h x 14.5"w.
Please note: all backpacks, small bags, purses, vera bags, etc. will need to remain in student lockers throughout the school day regardless of size. Only string bags that meet the dimension requirements will be acceptable for use during school hours.
IT'S BOOK FAIR TIME!
The book fair is very exciting for students! You can use the online flyer linked here to talk about what to purchase. Students are encouraged to get a book while they are shopping. Setting expectations ahead of time helps everyone to enjoy the book fair. The Scholastic Book Fair will be held in the Willink Library from Tuesday, September 10 through Friday, September 13. Students may attend with a scheduled class, during study halls or lunch periods. The book fair is open to parents and guardians during the Willink Open House on Wednesday, September 11.
