This week we are starting on Unit 2, Las Relaciones Personales (Personal Relationships). As we continue to go through the semester, all units are now 2 weeks, with specific assignments being due each week. Students will now attend one RLC every two weeks. Please encourage students to attend the RLC at the beginning of each new unit as the information in the RLC will help students tremendously in learning the new material and will help them when completing the assignments for the current unit. Assignments are due each Friday evening at 11:55pm. Last, students are encouraged to work ahead in the class! Below is a list of what is due this week.
SoftChalk (or the green puzzle piece)
As students begin Unit 2, make sure they click on the green puzzle piece (SoftChalk) as these are the lessons for the assignments.
Next page of SoftChalk
After clicking on SoftChalk (or the green puzzle piece), students will be directed to a second page where they will click on the numbers in order to go through the lessons for the week's assignments.
Vocabulary Lists for each unit
Students are strongly encouraged to print out the lists of vocabulary for each unit. Students can find the link for the list on the main Moodle page for Spanish 3. In addition, you can see that there are 9 blocks total on the main Moodle page that help students easily navigate through Moodle.
Required Live Class for Unit 2
Students have 5 opportunities to attend an RLC for Unit 2 this week. (They will have 3 opportunities to attend an RLC for Unit 2 next week.) In case your student didn't attend an RLC for Unit 1, or just needs some more review for Unit 1, there are 2 opportunities this week to attend an RLC for Unit 1 (see below-in red.)
Culture Cafe for Extra Credit!
Students have the opportunity to attend sessions in the Culture Cafe for extra credit. This extra credit goes towards their participation grade. In addition, students can attend any of the sessions as it does not have to be about Spanish. There is a Culture Cafe session this Thursday, September 10 (8:30pm-9:30pm) about "Arabic Faces From Ancient History." Students can click on the Culture Cafe Block/Button on the main Moodle page to enter the session. After attending a Culture Cafe session, students will complete a reflection about the class and submit it for extra credit.
Peer Tutor Center
The Peer Tutor Center is available for students. Students can click on BBIM and find a tutor to help them. Maybe they need help navigating through the course or maybe they need help with Spanish. Peer Tutors are waiting to help them!
Getting Started Unit and Unit 1 assignments should be completed!
By now, all assignments for Getting Started Unit and Unit 1 should be completed. I have sent texts to students if they are missing anything for these two units. Check with your student and make sure they are up to date with all assignments! Please contact me if you have any questions/concerns about your student's progress.
