Love Is In The Air
Bruin Press February 11, 2020 Edition
MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Parents and Guardians,
February is all about the upcoming Gala, "A Night Under the Stars." This sold-out event is going to be an evening to remember. Did you know that funds from this year’s event will go towards supporting our school’s mission and keeping tuition costs down? We have so much to be grateful for at SBS - affordable tuition without sacrificing a 21st century education. SBS provides academic excellence, as well as arts and athletics, to give students a quality education and well-rounded experience.
Did you know…
· We have one of the lowest tuition rates in the diocese.
· Our student-teacher ratio is 10:1.
· We offer specials like Spanish, STEM, Fine Arts, Technology, and PE.
· In middle school, student electives include Band, Performing Arts, Fine Arts, Advanced Technology, and Family & Consumer Science.
· Chess, Shakespeare, and Our Lady of Fatima Girls’ Group are available after school and open to all students.
· Student support services are available in reading and math, as well as guidance.
· Old & new traditions like the Back to School Bash, Bingo & Carnival, Parent Socials, Thanksgiving Play, Grandparent & Friendsgiving Breakfast, Family Fun Night, Daddy/Daughter Dance, Talent Show, Fish Fry, Middle School Dances, 4th of July Parade, and more set us apart from other schools.
· We have the best parent/teacher organization, Home and School, of any school, anywhere.
· WE HAVE NUNS! And, they are amazing! Our Catholic Identity is strong and fruitful.
Funds raised at our Gala help us to continue to offer strong programming and continually improve our commitment to your children through academic and enrichment opportunities.
But we need your help - every single one of you. We need you to be involved, to participate, to care. There are many ways to help!! Be sure to check out the Gala section in Dates & Details below for ways in which you can contribute to the Gala and support our school, as well as for all the raffle ticket incentives (including a chance to reduce next year's registration fee!).
Together we can do great things. Thank you in advance for your time and effort in support of this important fundraiser.
Go Bruins!

The Gala is less than 2 weeks away, and excitement is building! Thanks to all who so generously responded to last week's email calling for donations and support - we really could not do this without all of you!
We expect 100% participation from our school families, though, so if you have not yet contributed, there is still time! While the event is sold out, we still need support in the following ways:
1. SELL THOSE RAFFLE TICKETS! Each student was given 20 raffle tickets to sell, as raffle ticket sales are vital to our success. Over $8,000 will be raised if everyone participates in raffle ticket sales! And there are some pretty awesome incentives for selling those tickets!
2. BRING IN SILENT AUCTION ITEMS! Bring in items for the auction, including restaurant gift cards and bottles of wine. We do ask that gifts be valued at $25 or more. We need lots of fun items to auction off.
3. CONTRIBUTE TO THE GAP FUND OR TEACHER'S TABLE FUND! Go to the Gala website and donate to one of several funds set up.
4. VOLUNTEER! Volunteer to sell raffle tickets after Mass, or to help at the St. Pat's Gala in exchange for their help at our Gala. (See Volunteer Opportunities for links.)
New Gala Raffle Ticket Incentive!
1. All raffle ticket sellers will be entered in a raffle to win $250 off next year's registration fee!
2. All students who sell their 20 ticket allotment will receive a Free Dress Pass.
3. The two classes with the highest percentage of tickets sold will get a pizza or ice cream party (one party for PreK - 4th and one for 5th - 8th).
4. The student with the most tickets sold will win $200.
