2nd Grade News
with Ms. Przedpelski
Another great week back in 2nd grade!
We have had a great week together so far, and great day together on our field trip. You are receiving this newsletter a day early because I will be out of town tomorrow and your students will have a substitute. I will always let you know if there is a day that I am scheduled to be out. Please feel free to email me if you need me. I will be traveling in the car for most of the day, but will have access to my emails.
I cannot believe that we have already reached our last week before Winter break! This semester has flown by. Please read through our newsletter for some important news and reminders. We have a lot coming up this week - please make sure you read it all! As always, don't hesitate to contact me if you have questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Ms. Przedpelski
Important Information and Reminders
1. NO clubs next week:
We will not have clubs the last week of the semester. We will have after care available for those students who need it from 3:30-4:30. At 4:30 the regular after care charge will apply. However, if you are able to pick up your children at 3:30 we encourage you to do so. Elementary teachers will be finalizing grades and preparing for our BIG Elementary Winter Celebration! :-)
2. Winter Celebration:
Thank you to those of you who have already signed up to volunteer your time or donate materials! We could not make these special days happen without all of you and your support. Our Elementary Winter Celebration is on Thursday, December 17th. If you have not and you are able, please sign up for materials or to be a volunteer! The links to sign up can be found below.
3. Elementary Talent Show:
We will be enjoying the elementary talent show on Wednesday, December 16th from 8:15am-10:15am. If your child is in the talent show and you would like to attend, please take note of the time!
4. Reading Logs/Reflections Reminder:
We will NOT have Reading Logs/Reflections for the month of December because we will not be in school for the entire month. However.... I still expect your students to be reading at home! They should work on filling out their Six Flags Read to Succeed log (this was sent home last Friday!)
5. AR Quizzes:
Please be reminded... AR quizzes will only be taken during school. I know in the past, students could take quizzes at home. This year, students will only be allowed to take quizzes during the school day. We have the iPads twice a week for your students to test!
Even though we do not have reflections this month - your students should still take their AR quizzes when they finish their books!!
6. Media Center:
All students should bring their library books to return on Monday, December 14th! Students will not check out any books for over the Winter holiday. If your student needs a book, let me know and I will allow them to check one out from our classroom library instead. If you do not know what book your child needs to return to the media center, please email me and I will find out for you!
7. Homework Packet: Ms. Minor and I decided that we will not send home a homework packet this week. Grades are due on Wednesday, so we would not have the opportunity to grade your students' work if they turn in their packet on Friday. Please encourage your students to be READING at home!

Fernbank Museum of Natural History Field Trip Fun!
Your students had an awesome time on our field trip to The Fernbank Museum of Natural History today! We began our day watching a Wonders of the Arctic IMAX movie. From there, we split up into smaller groups and explored the museum together with our 2nd grade friends. Your students visited a Science Sensory area where they explored all different types of science-related activities. We visited the amazing nature playground at Fernbank. We also explored the prehistoric dinosaur exhibit. It was an awesome day at FSA!
Enjoy some photos below! (more to come on the Homeroom App!)
Warm gloves and socks charity drive
It is an awful truth that many people, even in our community, are victims of violence. Often times these people seek help from local organizations.
Family Haven, an organization in Forsyth County, offers safe shelter and needed items, for free to those in need. We can help them help others, by donating.
Cold winter weather is quickly approaching. Many people are in need of warm gloves and socks.
Make a difference in someone’s life.
Be kind and generous and bring in one or more pair of gloves and/or socks.
Together we can help.
Your donations can be dropped off at the front office or your child can give them to his/her homeroom teacher.
We will accept donations until December 16th.

We STILL need non-fiction books!
Our 2nd grade class is in need of non-fiction books! Many of you have expressed interest in helping out with this, but do not know where to start! Here is a link below to help give a better example of what we need!
