ComEd is proud to offer Camp Invention - Recharge, this Summer!


Camp Invention® is a nationally acclaimed summer program where STEM concepts come to life for 1st-6th graders! This program taps into kids' natural curiosity, providing them opportunities to become innovators through teamwork and immersive, hands-on, creative problem-solving!


The 2021 program, Recharge, explores sound waves in action as campers step up to the mic to reverse engineer a wireless microphone and become creative entrepreneurs while promoting their invention! Campers will also engage in real world mathematical concepts and engineering by building and testing a device to launch rubber ducks, experiment with circuits and energy with their own solar powered robotic crickets, and take on challenges in the Road Rally races as they apply nature-based discoveries and design a morphing vehicle that can travel across different terrains!

Who: Students entering 1st-6th Grade

What: Camp Invention

When: June 1 - June 4, 2021 - Daily from 8:00am - 4:00pm

Where: R.F. Pettigrew Elementary School - Sioux Falls, SD

Cost is $235 and includes all four days! Students take home their very own customized robot!

This year’s all-new program is designed to build essential STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) skills while also boosting reading abilities. Explore Open Mic City

Campers step up to the mic to find their own unique voice and become creative entrepreneurs. They discover sounds waves in action as they take apart and rebuild a wireless microphone, and then use powerful pitch skills to promote their own extraordinary invention.
Power Up Your Big Ideas With Open Mic

Dive Into Duck Chuck Pond

In this high-energy adventure, kids build and test a device to launch rubber ducks across the world. First, they collect “quack coins” to buy materials for their devices. Then they launch their ducks to visit famous landmarks, testing fascinating concepts like trajectory and velocity.

Join a Global Adventure with Duck Chuck

Hike Through SolarBot Park

As kids make and adopt their very own robotic crickets, they jump into experimenting with circuits and energy. Practicing empathy as they think about the lives of real insects, they create custom habitats — including a fun-filled cricket playground — for their solar-powered bots.
Leap Into Summer Fun With SolarBot

Road Trip to Road Rally Racetrack

Campers learn how to adapt as they design morphing vehicles that can travel across land, adding prototype elements for moving through air and water. With inspiration from cool creatures including a “plantimal,” they modify their vehicles to submerge, soar or sprint in the Super Road Rally.

CONFIDENCE

Campers find their own unique voice and discover sound waves in action through reverse engineering, then market their extraordinary inventions with friends as creative entrepreneurs.


PERSISTENCE

In this high-energy adventure, kids build and test a launching device to overcome challenges while exploring fun physics concepts like trajectory and velocity.


CREATIVITY

Kids experiment with circuits and energy to create a robotic, solar-powered cricket inspired by biomimicry, then use empathy and creative problem solving to build fun-filled custom habitats.


PROBLEM SOLVING

Children learn how to adapt as they design and prototype a nature-inspired morphing vehicle to submerge, soar or sprint in Super Road Rally!
