HPE Patriot Post
Harrison Parkway Elementary
Thank You
Thank you for sharing your amazing kids with us this year! As the school year draws to a close, we reflect on the wonderful learning, sharing and growing experiences we have had together. We have investigated, inquired, had study trips, met with experts who have visited to share their knowledge, danced, sung, shared learning with families, participated in service learning, shown big love, laughed, learned, and so much more. Thank you for partnering with us to support the growth of each of our kids. We wish our 4th grade students and families great success as they move on to intermediate and look forward to seeing all the great things to come! To our K-3rd grade students and families - we are excited to hear about your wonderful summer adventures when we see you in August. We are blessed to serve students and families at Harrison Parkway! Have a wonderful summer break.

Mrs. Moorman's Second Grade
”You take a fairy tale and make your own version of it, you use some of the original fairy tale and turn it into your own” said Mary as she works on her fractured fairy tale “Snow White and the 7 Dorks”.

2019-2020 PTO Help
Next school year will be here before you know it and it’s time to start planning. Please consider volunteering to plan Ice Cream Social, Community Breakfast, Spirit Wear, After School Explorers, or Party on the Playground; or assist with the fall fundraiser or staff appreciation.
Easy Ways to Help the PTO
Cut your Box Tops for Education and send them to school with your student at any time. Visit www.boxtops4education.com for a list of products.
If you shop on Amazon or at Kroger, check out these completely free and zero effort ways to raise money for the HPE PTO. The prices are the same, the service is the same, you shop the same way, but a portion of the purchase price will be donated to the PTO, that’s it!
On Amazon, just go to smile.amazon.com/ch/20-0114174 to link your account to the PTO and then check out using smile.amazon.com everytime--you cannot access this through an app so fill up your cart and then open a browser to check out or shop directly on smile.amazon.com.
For Kroger, login to your online account or create one using the Kroger Plus Card number you already have or get a new one. Then go to www.kroger.com/communityrewards and enroll in Community Rewards. Search for “VA241” and select “HARRISON PARKWAY ELEMENTARY - PTO.” Then scan your Kroger Plus Card or enter your alternate ID every time you check out just like you always have.
Check the HPE PTO website for all current volunteer opportunities! bit.ly/hpepto

Safe Visitor Badges
Per HSE Policy, visitors must have their Safe Visitor Badge scanned to check-in to the building. Please download the Safe Visitor App (IPhone) or have your badge ready and available to be scanned when you come into the school office. The app is in Google Play for other types of phones. To find the Safe Visitor app, search for “SafeVisitor” (there is no space in between the words).
Looking up names can lead to the wrong person being signed in. Upon leaving, please let the office staff know so they can sign you out.
If you have questions/concerns or need to have your badge re-emailed to you, please contact -Vicki Foutty at 317-594-4100.
Volunteering and the Background Check Process
Parents/visitors to HPE must have a background check on file with the school (including watching the anti-bullying video and completing the video survey) in order to volunteer in the school or to have lunch with a student. The link for the background check information can be found on link below at https://www.hseschools.org/services/other/school-safety/visiting-and-volunteering
The background checks are conducted by a 3rd party company, and there is a $13.00 fee for processing (payable online at the time of the application). Once completed, approved background checks are valid for a period of 3 years. Applicants will be notified via email when their background check has been completed and they will also notify people 30 days before their background check expires.
