NEWS FROM THE MUSTANG CAFE
We have several field trips coming up in October. Please see the list below regarding dates I need to have your sack lunch counts.
3rd Grade – Friday Sept. 14th
5th Grade – Friday Sept. 14th
Kindergarten – Friday Oct. 5th
2nd Grade – Monday Oct. 15th
All sack lunches will include a PB&J w/a cheese stick, goldfish, celery & carrots, an applesauce cup and a milk (if they want it). If you have a peanut allergy let me know & we’ll make something different for those students.
Because of ordering deadlines & deliveries, it’s really important that I have your orders by the above dates. Please know that you’re never “locked in” to the numbers one way or the other, but I need to have a good idea about what to expect so that we’re prepared. Thanks so much to you all for all you do for us each day! You can’t imagine how much the numbers you send us daily help us be as efficient as possible, so that you & your students have the time you need for lunch each day. Love to you all from the café! Technology Tidbits
The digital citizenship plan for Midway is linked. You are welcome to read at your free time. Below are the highlights :
- There are five topics in Digital Citizenship Plan. Teachers are only responsible for teaching the lesson in the Online Safety and Privacy topic. Go ahead and take a look at the lesson you will teach. The lesson is linked on the icon of the Scope and Sequence.
- We will come up with a Monday morning meeting for these technology lessons. I will communicate this date to you.
- Counselors, ITS and Media will find the best time to teach the other lessons. We will contact you in the future regarding these lessons.
- Complete the Google Digital Citizenship for Teachers before Halloween and email me a copy of your badge.
Midway's Digital Citizenship Vision:
Every student at Midway ES will become a responsible digital citizen who knows how to harness the learning potential of digital media in a 24/7 connected world, safely, effectively, ethically, and respectfully. Students at this school will be educated about appropriate online behavior, including interacting with other individuals on social networking websites and in chat rooms and cyber bullying awareness and response. In order to accomplish this goal, each year students will be provided with direct instruction on how to be a responsible digital citizen. Additionally, classroom teachers will refer to and discuss the Digital Citizen Tools For Success Poster each time students are required to use technology.
Thank you for doing your part to keep our kids safe online and learning alongside them as well. HUGE thank you for the following teachers for already completing the Digital Citizenship Google Training: Kangas, Fahey, Wade, Shelnutt, Phillips, C Arnold, Vallier, Collins and Driscoll.
Password Safety-I know there was a possibility/hope of a weather day last week. There was some discussion about student user names and passwords if this happened. Under no circumstance can you email parents their child's user name and a password. I'd recommend sending home a copy in a folder for the little ones. If we needed a weather day on Itslearning they need to know their user name or password or have access already at home. Again, you can not email this information to parents. This is for the safety of our students.
HELP NEEDED....PLEASE SEE TASKS BELOW THAT REQUIRE ACTION THIS WEEK.
Please revisit the Sign Up Genius to find opportunities to read with our Kindergarten kiddos.
Moments of Mustang Might
Each week we want to highlight staff members who demonstrate the 7 Habits qualities.
When people make an impact on you, please share the moment so we can celebrate each other. Email Daphne or Ashley by Friday at lunch time each week to highlight our teammates.
With Much Appreciation...
